RV Tip: (17 years full-timing) Propane use: This holds true whether in a campground or boondocking. Turn OFF the water heater. Plan hot water usage for once per day. Turn ON the water heater only when you PLAN for it. Reason: My Atwood water heater took an hour to heat ten gallons on propane only. During the 24 hour period the heater burned 10 minutes every two hours. That is 2 hours burn-time every 24, after the initial heating, just to KEEP the water hot (three hours burned). I am not even awake during 40 minutes of burn. Better to plan ahead. Using the elec plus propane shortens burn time, but the rate of heat loss would still require a maintenance booster every two hours, so this holds true. Plan Ahead. Turn it OFF. Note: I used this Plan Ahead idea, using propane to heat water in a campground where each site was individually monitored for elec. The park manager commented that I hardly used any electricity. PS, under the Plan Ahead, I hardly used any propane either.

Yes, keep the tank as full as possible, have paper map backups, keep alert, and watch each other's back at rest stops, etc. Always assess your surroundings. Still have fun out in nature but stay safe. Oh yes, occasional 'pee stops' for men and ladies when out of the public eye. When nature calls, sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.

Good stuff. Do we think things have gotten worse since you "hunkered down" in Thunder Canyon? Yes. But, we think you two have changed even more. At the same time you settled in Alabama, we settled on a ranch between Bison, SD and Hettinger, ND. What you and we found was SANITY, and sane people. And the longer we live here, the more the cities and city folk seem crazy and dangerous. And the more our sanity and clarity returns. God created us to live on Earth in uncrowded countryside. Government herds us into crazy-jammed metropolises. We are glad you are on the road again! Have fun! We have been home for 7 months and need to hit the road too. Also, since diesel is a little less more to carry extra, we do in our pickup bed. We don't let our tank get under 1/2 full for sure. God bless and keep posting!

Doesn't stop us from traveling but much more aware of our surroundings especially when boondocking. Also always monitor " health" of our coach with regular air, oil, transmission checks. We do carry weapons but hope to never use them. Been seeing more crazier drivers that dont like rv'ers but we just let them pass without any incident.

The world is not what it used to be. One of the reasons I went full time. I agree with the points you made. But the most important thing is trust in your Protecter. I have had many 1st year issues and every single time I have learned something from it and God has sent me to exactly the right people to help me and keep me safe. No matter what city. One shop let me plug in for 3 days waiting for parts in their fenced lot and gave me a gate key, let me use their shower, and gifted me a dozen eggs from their chickens. I've had some scary moments as well but my mantra now is "Fear is a lack of Faith." Not that I'm not careful or have means to protect myself. My most important safety measure in my Class C is to just leave. But in order to process your situation effectively you need to stay calm. And God is helping me with that challenge. At the end of the day, it's all up to Him. And He has never let me down. Even when I forgot He was involved. Lol! Not preaching. Just sharing. Never give up on your mission guys. And John keep putting it out there. It's the reason God made you! Thanks to you both. God bless!

We rarely fire up the hot water tank. Also, if you have a little left over soapy water from dishes keep it in the dishpan for a quick hand wash (reduces some water use).

Lots of good advice, I've seen the changes too. I now avoid all medium and large cities due to over abundance of crazy people and crime. Due to gun restrictions in many areas I keep multiple cans of Wasp & Hornet Spray on hand for self defense. Just aim for the eyes. Highly effective on both 2 and 4 legged threats, stopping them in their tracks without killing them. Never letting fuel or water get below half of what your rig can carry is a practice that's saved many lives, could save yours if things go bad. And remember Cash is always King when you need something. Accounts get hacked or frozen, electronic payments don't work when the grid is down. Yet there is always someone ready to take a cash payment. Any and all of the above, could be the difference between being a survivor, or a statistic. Most Importantly, Always Trust Your Gut. Even if you don't understand why, if something feels wrong, you don't want any part of what's coming.

Very good advice, thank you so much. Me personally I just live in a Toyota sienna and I don’t travel much because I work in San Diego doing housesitting and Dog Walking. But when 2020 hit and all these psychos believed all the lies from the media, I was able to finally get some physical maps. Sadly, there’s a lot I do not know how to do on my own, I know nothing about fixing anything and have no tools. And the homelessness, that will soon be everywhere because people have allowed this evil tyrannical Nazi government to get away with whatever they want. I live in Encinitas, and they’ve almost completed their 15 Minute city here. In 2020 they started the complete redesign of the city. It does not even resemble what it used to look like. And now the past couple of years people are seeing what’s going on, they don’t like it and they talk to their local governments and get nowhere. I created flyers with resources, and I give them to all the construction workers and let them know you are building our prison. And I tell everyone to use cash only
