it's probably the right move, especially the process he took (talking with HBK about it before this interview). He asked Shawn if it bothered him, reflected on his own past, and then even with Shawn being cool with it still decided he didn't want to do it anymore.

A feud in 1997 with them would have gave us such amazing matches!

Shawn was def a bit of a diva and prick behind the scenes so I wasn't surprised a lot of guys came out and said so after the fact. But tbf to Shawn he's also tried to be a better man since those years so there really isn't as much reason to continue hating on him. Hell if Bret Hart of all people can be cool with him everyone probably should.

True story. At work the cook comes in a mess. There was snow and ice on the ground and he had a tough time. He fell multiple times and it was like a comedy skit lol. I had to make the smart ass comment" And they call me a klutz. No more than 2 seconds after I said that, I'm bending over scooping ice out of the ice machine, stand up straight and slammed my head on the corner of a shelf, causing myself to bleed in the process. The cook said it looked like I had a vagina on my head, it was a gash. I was ok but lessoned learned. Keep your mouth shut lol.

Love the delivery in apology. The praise is for the reason that he (Rob) didn’t try to gaslight, or justify his reasons for why he did it in the first place. In my life, I call it “taking the L”-if I messed up, I messed up. Take my L chalk it up as lesson learned.

Moving ears was the most impressive thing here.

As someone who’s had vision damage and woke up from a coma and couldn’t pronounce anything…even though my brain knew I was seeing a dog, a dinosaur, and a giraffe - it was one of the most frustrating and scary things ever, and definitely no laughing matter. I went through cognitive speech therapy for almost two weeks in ICU. RVD is such a good dude. One of my all time favorites 💯

Very mature take by RVD. That said, it is pretty wild how he can move his eyes around like that. The only other person I’ve seen with that much independent eye control is Bill Skarsgård, the actor who portrays Pennywise the Clown in IT.

RVD has the eye-control of a chameleon. If his tongue suddenly shot out two feet from his mouth, I wouldn't be THAT surprised...

Rob is a nice man and no one should be remembered for making an impression of another person. Not should someone have to live with that impression and this is wrestling. They are supposed to get heat all the time with everyone and sometimes it can get personal or be taken personally. As a fan of wrestling i love it all.

I've never seen eyes move like that.

There's increasingly a general rule, for anti-bullying, of never making fun of anything about anyone that they can't change and didn't choose. By that rule, you can make fun of HBK for "losing his smile," or for having lost a bar fight and then successively inflated the odds he was supposedly up against in that fight. But his hairline, and especially the vision problem, would be off limits. I'm not saying that this is always the right rule. I don't think RVD, even though he was grouching about how Shawn had treated him backstage, was being particularly out-of-pocket with that impression, especially not in the sense that Ed Ferrara was, years ago, when he copied Jim Ross's squint (from Bell's Palsy) in a WCW caricature. But to whatever extent a man like Van Dam is trying to model thoughtful, kind behavior for the people who watch his content, calling himself out for breaking that rule here and apologizing to Shawn for it was a good and admirable thing.

I saw the impression years ago but every time it's brought up when Rob's name is mentioned it's a bit cringe. Shawn sacrificed everything for the business, including his eye. So I didn't think it was cool of Rob to continue to poke fun at that. Glad to see he matured and apologized about it
