I flew there as well in the summer to see my wife's uncles old glider. The Wallis autogyros are great little machines, I met Wallis a few times and would love to have flown one. He did a demo flight just for me, when I visited him as a teenager, he pulled it out starteded it up and taxied to a field by his house and took off, flew arounf low level and waved at me with both hand. You should see it in the 007 film and just think about fitting all the bits onto the Sky Ranger :-) The fact it had "Mud in the tyres" is great it means it is not static, which is the best bit of the collection, the fact that their aircraft fly.

Great to see Little Nellie, the first time I saw her was in Ken Wallis' hangar at his home in Norfolk. A little sad that his collection did not end up where he wanted them to but nice to see her being preserved.

Thanks Ben great video as usual. Went to the Shuttleworth vintage air show September 2012. Amazing day. All the planes fly. An old guy told us to stay until late as he thought the wind would drop off and the sky would go blue. If we did, we’d be in for a treat. Indeed it did. They rolled out the Bleriot, the Avro tri plane and the Bristol Boxkite. They pottered around the sky for over 2 hrs after it should have closed. It was amazing. Highly recommend it. Looking forward to flying there myself once I get my license. Keep them coming Ben. Well done.

Cracking video once again Ben, lovely aeroplane to tour in, great panel. I'd love to visit the SWC one day, it's very special. Just think that the performance of the Eurostar or Skyranger is very similar to that of a WW1 fighter (microlights are, not as aerobatic perhaps, except in the case of certain C42s - lol!) BTW, AFAICT a Spitfire's wing is elliptical on the leading and trailing edges, which both go to form an ellipse and, the 'elliptical' end piece can be found on other wing types that aren't necessarily an ellipse, but look elliptical. I hope that makes sense? Iirc it was initially a German idea for a light sports aircraft design, then larger aircraft, including some Henkels. RJ Mitchell spent some time in Germany between the wars.

@@BenAtkinsonVideos thanks for replying Ben I’m currently doing my flight training about 20 hrs in looking forward to obtaining license and buying own aircraft here in Queensland Australia to keep on friends property with runway, it’s come down to 2 aircrafts offered in my price range $20 to $30 k one is a Skyranger Swift and other is a Savanah VG both have the Rotax 100 hp both very capable stol think 🤔 I prefer Savanah due to metal wings over Skyranger Dacron covered but the swift is a narrower wing span and seems good performance not sure which way to go as both similar price, just wonder your thoughts or comments cheers Ben and happy new year 2021 Garry ✈️😎
