If their reputation and sales tank, they simply sell the building and equipment for salvage and walk away with fat wallets. I've seen a similar business model with some metal fabricators. Unscrupulous and unethical, but effective nonetheless.

I had a vinyl sign made ($30) that said the dealership name & WORST SERVICE EVER!!! Then I parked front & center in the dealership. That got them to see things my way. They fixed the issue & cleaned the car inside and out. I removed the sign. I think everyone who has issues like this should get a sign made up to put on their RV explaining the issues they had, and the company’s response. Then park the RV in front of the dealership. Maybe send pictures to the manufacturer.

I was an RV service tech 45 years ago. We serviced Nomad RV's, Palamino pop-ups and truck campers. All of our techs would go through the RV once it was sold and checked everything out: lights, hot water and cold water (leaks), propane, 12 VDC service, gray & fresh water holding tanks, pumps, refrigerators, everything. We went through the new & used trailers with a fine tooth comb and fixed any issues. One thing that I notice several years after that was the quality coming out of the manufacturers was going downhill, and fast. I had to take a Latham 5th wheel to Pennsylvania for warranty repairs and while the repairs were being made, they gave me a tour of the manufacturing plant, where they assembled these trailers and 5th wheel trailers. One thing I notice was at the end of the assembly line, where the quality control inspections were being done, was that there was hardly any lighting on inside the unit and there were 3-4 inspectors inside all huddled together. I couldn't believe it!! They just don't make 'em like they used to anymore!!!

We started in the RV world back in the 80's, starting with a Jayco popup. From there we went to a Layton TT, then a Dutchman TT, then a Prowler 5th Wheel, then a Keystone Montana that we bought for full timing. While full timing we moved onto a Southwind MH and finally our last one, a 2005 Tiffin Phaeton. We full timed for just under 12 years and have never experience any of these terrible horror stories. I'm not saying we didn't have issues, but wow! We did have a leak on a slide with our Montana, but the factory in Goshen was awesome and fixed everything we could have asked for. When we ordered/purchased our Phaeton, warranty/service was top-notch, mostly thanks to Bob Tiffin and how he ran the company. We've been off the road now for just over 10 years and we are so happy that we did it then and not in the current state of the RV manufacturing world.

@@cdlund2840you can get a crappy older RV too. In 2013 we bought a used 2008 motorhome from a dealership and ended up having to put over $20,000.00 into it. So many things needed to be repaired and replaced. We figured out that the people who previously owned it ran it into the ground driving it through the desert. They knew it was going to be reprocessed so just ran it into the ground. We finally sold it after fixing everything and went with a new Forest River Berkshire diesal which we purchased in Alvarado Tx. Forest River was phenomenal with anything we needed help with in and out of warranty. We never took the RV to where we purchased it. We took it to FR approved repair facilities near to us in CA. We have found FR to stand by their products. Working with their service dept in Elkhart IN has been positive. The guys in service dept have been helpful and quick response.

This seems to be a nationwide problem. I'm a mechanic and bought a new flatbed trailer (type towed behind a light truck) and on the way home decided to check the wheel lug nuts. All were only hand tight. First heavy load heard a pop. I stopped and guessed the leaf springs must be settling in. 10 minutes later a wheel and hub assemly flew off. Luckily this was in remote middle of nowhere country. None of the bearings were set correctly. Just loose. This is a huge problem. I had to replace one destroyed axle and hub assembly and reset the other bearings. I don't have time or patience to deal with people who do negligent work. What a mess. This sort of thing never happened in the USA prior to current times.

I'm into boats and therefore boat trailers. Compared to RVs, boat trailers are very simple. All they really need are quality axle components that are aligned. They can't even get this right. Given that we can't get reliable boat trailers, what's the probability of a reliable RV? Zero. Maybe a small single axle camp trailer. But otherwise, you can expect trash.

It is high time companies like Riverside be put out of business.

I am a disabled widow and I just can't afford to take this kind of risk, although, I'd like to buy something I can depend on to live and travel in. Kust a thought, but could you by any chance, make a web page that lists the different RV brands as well as the issues you have reported on in your videos, (adding to it as you go)? Seems we can't trust the traditional review system anymore...but I feel I can trust what you have looked into and found. And it would be a great resource for anyone looking to buy...before they buy! I'd be interested in an RV, if I could find an honest company, but I will not support this type of corruption, and many people would benefit from seeing a shame list. Thanks again, I hate to hear how these people are being treated...but I love that you are helping us navigate and avoid the companies that do not care about their product, reputation, or their customers.

I worked as a transport trailer mechanic for a dealership in Canada. Trailers were manufactured in Indiana. When trailers arrived from the manufacturer we would perform a PDI on each trailer. The amount of problems we would find was shocking. Loose lug nuts, missing sealent, Abs malfunctioning, wiring with screws driven into it. This continued to happen for months with multiple units. Our branch was constantly in contact with head office relaying our findings. Head office would down play our findings and say just fix it, a very suspicious response. It eventually lead to our branch threatening to refuse any more deliverys unless the issue was properly addressed and provided with answers. Turns out the manufacturer was using untrained day release prisoners on the assembly line.

Unless its anything associated with Thor, or in this case, Riverside. If you're ok with drivables, class A's tend to be nicer and better built. And ALWAYS get an independant inspection before buying! Our favorite server at our local restaurant asked me last night about recommendations for used RVs. They're looking at a Class C (because they have a Great Dane and a Mastiff!). The first words out of my mouth were "don't buy anything that was made during lockdown". The trailer in this video was purchased in 2022 and these manufacturers were trying to meet the increased demand by cranking out shoddy units hand over fist, sometimes using substandard parts because the supply chain was affected by lockdown. I also texted her today with a bunch of recommendations and first and foremost was no matter whether she bought new or used to make sure she got an inspection. They seem to be mandatory these days. And I'm going to send her a link to this video just to hammer that home.

This is the end result as of yesterday after not being able to use the unit now for 26months. Multiple inspections, tow bills, insurance claims because Keystone recommended it! American Family, and 2 other 3rd party adjusters have determined that the frame is a manufacturer defect! No responsibility from Lippert or Keystone taken. The damage is so bad that it is essentially totaled and I have a $70k fifth wheel that is not usable! As of today, Keystone told us we waited too long to get the recall fix resulting in the damage. We have all emails documented saying they would repair it because we didn't receive the letters. The recall cant be repaired because of the frame flexing! What a joke! The “WHY” is a simple answer. Speed, a push for urgency and profit. We toured one RV shop, we went through the build process. They were PROUD that their teams could build the cabinets for everything, a bath, kitchen, LR and Bedroom in under 20 minutes, the single installer could install the cabinets in under 10 minutes. We are talking a single worker picking the cabinets up, putting them up holding it with one hand using nail guns with the other. The entire trim was done next in about 5 minutes, precut strips, guy moving so fast, tack gun popping away, no pause to ensure trim was straight, etc. Every time I tour and RV and see lose or crooked cabinets, wallpaper or backsplash problems, etc., I think of that tour. I get the need for profit, but when you’re paying $50k-$100k for an RV, you don’t expect the company to be proud of their being able to build the entire thing in hours.

What many companies fail to recognize is that quality work saves money, it even makes money for the firm by getting customer referral's not complaints. The way they treated that elderly couple is shameful, this is going to cost them many unsold units, then they should calculate have much they saved with shoddy workmanship and parts buying.

People need to start writing there State Government and Local Governments to demand New Standards of Workmanship and the Force of Government if these standards are not met. This whole situation is way out of control here with RV manufacture Snake Oil Warranty and Guaranties being useless. Thanks for sharing Liz, as always keep standing up for all of us. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

They may have literally ended up under their RV if that axle or springs failed, or the tires blew out. Huge safely issue.

Bankruptcy for multiple Rv makers/companies the only way I see out of this, then a few quality companies who honor warranties, take pride in their product will hang on and become profitable. thanks for ongoing efforts and calling them out Liz.

Liz, I find it very interesting how companies like this would not reimburse folks that have documented prove of the poor quality of there products but if you sue these companies they don't hesitate to pay lawyers hundreds of thousands of dollars instead of 5000 to do what it right.

You know why... the lawyers get these idiots seats right above the dugout, or a suite at basketball arena, etc. It's big business at its ugliest. So spending company money with people who sprinkle them with fairy-dust becomes the accepted norm. A customer could never compete, nor would they want to.

Sorry for this retired couple, who have worked their entire lives awaiting to hit the road. This unnecessary Stress is criminal. These RV’s have wheels to roam. Disgraceful reply by manufacturer. Only buy a unit made Pre Covid. The industry has gone to Sh!t. Absolutely a Lemon Law needs to exist country wide. Great Work Liz, keep bringing these vids

I am so glad that you fight for these people with the RV problems. My family had a 2012 Forrest River 5th wheel and we had good luck with it. I am glad you spread the word on your channel because my wife and I were looking to buy a motor home. Thanks to your channel, we will pay to have an inspection ahead of time.

Hi Liz. Thanks for whittling down my list of next travel trailers. I think I will stick with my pre-Covid rig for some time to come. Sub-standard steel is scary!

I agree! Our 20 year old trailer is so much better quality than anything out there. We replaced the flooring, did new curtains, added a backslash, and are in the process of removing/replacing the graphics. It looks like new, and we've had literally no issues with it. Cheaper to keep and update as required than purchase new garbage RVs.

The customer is the quality control now. I have read that they pass on a lot of things at the factory, let the dealer mess with it, and the customers.

This has been happening for a lot of years. It's really nothing new. But. Social media and KZread have brought it to the masses. This a good thing. I hope folks can learn from these channels. Most RV's if you ask a true question from a RV repair mechanic. They will tell you just how bad most are made. There really aren't many equality RV's made. Going back 10 to 15 years. Same issues.

Hi Liz, Appreciate your channel and what you do for folks that have excessive issues with their new RV. I think I recall you saying (and I whole heartedly agree) that these days one would be better off buying a good used rv as the manufactures are having a big problem with quality control. In this case, I think it should be mentioned that owners do have a responsibility to understand the terms of their warranty and how to use it. At least contact the company and give them an opportunity to correct problems. If an owner decides to get something fixed without first contacting the manufacturer (or representative/ dealer), they need to know they probably won’t get reimbursement…..unless you have a real good reason.

A class action lawsuit is whats needed to change this industry! The Rv industry already has Govt on its side. How do you think they get away with shoddy work? Screw people over and make millions! Unfortunately, it will take the death of a young family with children or a beloved elderly couple for change to happen. My husband and I experienced a darn near open valve on our oven. A fatal fire catastrophe situation. We paid $200 for it to be tightened and a missing bolt to be replaced under stove.
