When leveling trailers you forgot to tell them to level side to side first. Then do front to back last where you use the front jack to get level . Don't unhook until you level side to side first.

Exactly, side to side is step one. Then front to back. Also did not mention that the scissor jacks are not leveling jacks, only stabilization jacks. Good content on the reason to have "level" but a little confusing for people that don't have hydraulic leveling systems
Love the big foot carrying off the front tires lol
Another uplifting video from Todd. Keep the good stuff coming.

I'm glad you enjoyed it.
We got the Level Mate Pro for our fifth wheel couple of years ago, we do side to side first then in unhook and do front to back. That level pro is a GOD SEND absolutely love it! I think even with an automatic level system I would still have the Level Pro, it lets you get situated in the sight best before starting to level.

Great video and what you mentioned at the end how to over ride. Question. I have the auto leveling system and after it leveled down for almost a year there is a squeaking sound as they are retracting. Almost sounds like the seals are dry kind of sound. I wiped them before lifting. Could I just put a light coat of lubricant on the posts? Any suggestions? Thank you.
Thank you
Wait wait wait. The jacks on most travel trailers are only to stabilize an already-level trailer. So you have to level side-to-side first and THEN disconnect. Then use the tongue jack to level front-to-back and THEN put the stabilizers down. The stabilizers can collapse if there is too much weight on them and sometimes even the frames can bend.

This! 👏 He was very vague with his explanation. Normally to get the truck back under it you would raise all stabilizers, all the way dont half ass it abd forget, then hit the electric jack at the tongue of the camper. I imagine if they got auto levelers they have an electric jack for the tongue!

why thank you.
I've heard different numbers for "how level is level". We use a digital level and go to +/- 0.5 degrees on both x and y. Should it be more level than that?
Is that a owl sloth??? I thoroughly enjoy all of your videos they've helped me a lot
For the fridge topic, my cabover camper manual says keep the front higher when off the truck and stored away. Is that an issue?
Made me smile. The RV in your background picture took his front wheels off when he leaveld. Is this considered good technieke? (great video by the way)
I have a question that's been bugging me for a while, I have a manual PowerGear leveling system made by Lippert, I'm wondering what would it take to upgrade my manual system to a Lippert Automatic system?...Thanks!
I have a heartland lithium 24 foot toy hauler, it has automatic jacks that come down in the front and the back like a scissor jack. But not sure if these are used to just stabilize the rig or actually level it. But I need to use blocks under the tires to get it level before I put the levelers down? Did not know if I can really put a lot of force on them or they’re just mostly for keeping it stable not for leveling.
@NationalRVTrainingAcademy

Those are more than likely stabilizing jacks.
The example of Lippert auto level at the end, why do u need to go into over ride mode?
Lol love it
I love this background pic. Lol 😂😂
Totally love big foot stealing tires!!!😂
My refrigerator manual says if half the bubble is in the circle it will be fine
Hey Todd; can you add hydraulic jacks to a 2015 Thor 28 A motor home ? and if so where would you buy them?
@NationalRVTrainingAcademy

That’s a total custom job. I’d check with some local RV shops. Check with Moryde and see if they do that kind of stuff.
Bigfoot just stole your tires, LOL 😆.
I've found that I'll be level side to side then put slide out and I'm low on slide side.
Love the Sasquatch
How do you know if you have a type of refrigerator that needs leveling? My manual says "Dometic..."?? What type of support/leveler system would one use in a travel trailer??

An absorption-style fridge runs off of electric (120v) and or gas. You will see metal fins in the back of the fridge. RV absorption-style refrigerators depend on gravity for efficient cooling and optimal operation. If your RV fridge is not level, its efficiency decreases. This not only poses a challenge in maintaining proper food cooling but also presents potentially hazardous issues in the future. The newer 12 volt and residential units are different because they use a compressor to cool.
Todd, I have a dual axel Bullet Travel trailer. We arrive at the campsite and level side to side and forward and aft. Bubbles are in the middle. We put down the psx1 stabilizers, then extend the slide. Check for level and the camper is leaning to the drivers side due to the wait of the slide. Is this a problem? Bubble is just outside the lines. How do we fix it? If it's a problem. Thank you, John

I would use a bullet level on the floor next to the fridge and use the bubble indicator there. Sometimes the bubble located outside the RV can be out of calibration. Not the air pocket but the position of the device itself.
were do I get a bigfoot to carry my tires?
How level is level to run the fridge? And is starboard to port as important as fore and aft level?
@NationalRVTrainingAcademy

The more level the better it'll perform. The refrigerators user manual will tell you the angle threshold it needs to operate.
I need that background pic ... any plans of an online auction for it? :-)

You can download the pic from wallpaper flare and do what you want. Mike B.
This may sound dumb but what about then we are not using our trailers should we level or is just when we are using the fridge we need to keep it level
@NationalRVTrainingAcademy

When your fridge is not on then it doesn’t matter if it’s level because nothing is moving inside the coils.
What if your jacks won’t go back UP????
I hate leveling on a slop especially drive way slop. And I think I bent my steps. I feel like beating the step hell
Is there a to steep of a pitch? I’m sure there is but what’s the best way to identify it
@NationalRVTrainingAcademy

Normally your self leveling system will tell you when it’s out of range. If you’re going manual you’ll want to reference your manufacturers manual. Most of them say to Park as close to level as possible so if you’re way out of level you may want to adjust.
So you shouldn’t use the frig while driving to an d from camping
Um, Todd, I need to level with you - someone made off with your front tires....🤣😂😁
Damn Bigfoot stole your tires

Where do I find that photo for my Zoom/Webex Background?? LOL
That Sasquatch is headed to the local Pawn Shop........same thing happens in Chicago.......but it isn't Sasquatch! LOL!!!
We do side to side with a level on a known part of the frame then front to back with the jack. Put down the stabilizer jacks and the camping starts.

I did side to side off the inside floor above the axle. I don't think i got it right because the door is hard to shut sometimes. Mainly in the morning when the sun hits it.

@@georgebeauchamp1690 Don't know if Todd comes in here but the floor can be slightly wavy making leveling there difficult. With ours the frame crossmember just before the box is a good place for us to level. Be sure that you aren't putting your stabilizer jacks down too hard. They can twist the frame and box, and cause all kinds of grief. They aren't meant to lift the weight of the trailer, just to calm down the movement.
Watch out for the wheel thieving sasquatches too.
