Why the drip tray that has to be dumped out? It seems easier to run hose out the vent or even better down and out the bottom.

I do run my hose out of the back vent sometimes when we are more stationary. I don’t like it hanging out if we are traveling, fear of the cap going missing. Lots of times the tray dries up on its own too just from evaporation. When I do go back there and there’s water in the tray I just empty because, why not, gets pretty funky.

Dont ever zip tie to copper tubing it will rub a hole in the copper

No worries, they is hardly any pressure on the zip tie at all. That’s more a rule of thumb for copper plumbing lines with water running through them.
