I have lived in the suburbs of Chicago for my whole life. Over the years it’s taken longer and longer to escape the traffic if we leave on a Friday. I’m glad you have such a nice rig to hibernate in on the rainy days. When the kids were younger I always researched a plan B of venues in case of rain. Camping is fun, even in the rain!

**Bear spray alternative?** I carry a can of wasp / hornet spray. Bear spray is more expensive. Yup..it's a bigger can, but it shoots 25-30 feet same as bear spray. I keep it in my rv driver's door along with a small but LOUD air horn. Sadly I did have to use the airhorn...once... ON AN OLDER MAN. I had just shopped at Walmart one sunny afternoon and was sitting at the far edge of the lot near a pond in the shade, minding my own business. He came up 3xs to my rv, hanging on my mirror, trying to pull himself up to look inside my rv & insist I take his religious literature. I warned him to go away but the 3rd time he got about 4ft away I blasted it and he fell back on his 🍑. Told him bear spray ( wasp) was next if he didnt go away & that I would call police. They say wasp spray isn't for self defense & doesn't really work, but as an older woman who travels fulltime alone, I feel safer for having it, along with the airhorn. I have also learned to only put my steps out when I actually need to go in & out of the rv. I even pull them in at night in campgrounds after seeing raccoon footprints on them in the morning. If my steps had been down I believe he would have tried to open the door and let himself in. I am going to get another small airhorn for when I am outside to have at hand for animals or other human pests when needed.

Come east, so many parks on the dry side of the state to visit, and we have water here, too. You should try out Steamboat Rock state park. There is water, hiking and blue skies. And nearby is Sun-Lakes Dry Falls state park. Plus Grand Coulee Dam is not far away and is an impressive visit.

❤Excellent video. Don't let the local weather get you down. I was worried for a second when you were on trail and speaking about the plants. Near the ferns was some stinging nettle. They irritate skin like poison ivy. The Cougars around here are generally nocturnal so you would not likely see one a day light. The bear around here are black bear and they are mostly out at night until fall when the eat black berries and salmon berries. They usually stick to eating and I give them a big circle circle

As a newbie FT travel trailer puller, I have learned to look at my route on Google Maps/Directions first on my PC before travel day. I too was sent on side road hell while blindly following Google map directions. I was new to towing and in a different area and just learning to use Google maps. THAT scared me enough to take precautions! I still do not understand the weird directions. I will sometimes pin a fake stop to get the route I want.

Hey David! Another great video... "The force is strong within you!" LOL! Nice County Park and rec area. What fee (if any) did you pay to camp? Always love to see the accessibility-- ramps and handrails to access the pier and boat dock. I know some people argue these structures take away from the nature beauty of the area, but I like the thought/ effort to provide access for different levels of abilities. Thanks!

@@RVJedeye your welcome keep your head on a swillel they stock there prey and you don't even know there there. If you hear the birds all of a sudden go silent is a very good indication that something is around. Trust me I live on a mountain in bow wash nothing around but the forest and the wildlife you definitely get to know your surroundings when you live the way I do. Been living off grid on the homestead for years I have seen it all. The wildlife here is a daily. Also a good thing to carry is a whistle. If something comes running blow the heck out of that thing. Please don't walk the trails without protection especially if you dont know the area. Also you should always carry water and something to eat and a pocket emergency kit and water proof matches. I teach people about survival and edible plants and stuff Incase something ever happens. I know from watching a few of your videos you have been mostly going to parks but still its a good thing to do even of it's just a park. Take good care stay safe.
