Volt Multi Meter - amzn.to/2PBRnLj
Battery Tender Jr, Battery Charger - amzn.to/2PwFshS
Hey Happy Campers!!
Today's Episode we are troubleshooting an issue with the 12 volt power in our RV Camper. Here is the issue... Brand Spakin NEW battery... Slides work, yet NO other 12 volt functions work in the camper (Lights, Fridge, Blower for heater, etc.) I'm seeing 12 volt power leaving the battery, but NO 12 volt power is at the invertor / convertor inside the camper. This ruled out a bad invertor / convertor and led me to believe we had a cut wire somewhere... However the solution was much easier and cost nothing to fix... with that said check out the video for the solution... Thanks for watching!!

Thanks for this - Camping World telephone support (the number on an inside cabinet door sticker) was of no help for me either. We got to our camping spot that is 1.5 hours away from home and the battery was dead and no 12v. The tech on the phone had me do a bunch of stupid S_i_ that didn't work, it was 100 degrees and about to pour rain, so we unhitched and went home. I'll see if that little 12v circuit breaker is the problem in the morning. I googled this and have a much more clear understanding of 12v RV systems. Tomorrow, I'll check that little button first, then hook up a battery charger to get things going. The slide out covers up the Fridge and the Electrical Panel, so it's serious to get it going first thing in the morning.

@@MileHighCampers So it wasn't the breaker! Turns out the battery cable that goes from the breaker to the power converter area was crimped between the under-flooring and the I-beam frame right near where it runs up inside the trailer. I was able to pull the wire out about 1/2" so it's not shorting anymore, but it'll need to be re-routed. Got 12v back so we're good to go for the weekend. 2019 Coleman 3rd time camping and about 300 miles.

I was SO frustrated with the same problem on my 2018 Winnebago Micro Minnie. Then I watched your video. Dude, if you were here right now, I'd give you the biggest hug, shake your hand, and offer to buy you lunch. My manual switch was in a metal electrical box underneath the trailer. I had to take the cover off and move all the wires just to see the little switch. I would have never found it without this video. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

This video may be five years old but it is still saving the day. I spent days looking for answers to this issue with my 2011 Palomino Stampede. I was getting ready to start pulling panels apart to look for frayed wires or tow it to the dealer where it would likely cost at least 100 just for the diagnosis. Literally took 30 seconds to crawl under the camper find the button and give it a push. Everything that should work from the battery now works!!! I can't say thank you enough!!

My lithium battery voltage had gotten so low (below 9 volts) that the BMS put it to sleep and thus I had no 12-volt power in my RV. Nothing worked. After figuring out how to awaken the lithium battery and recharge it... I still had no 12 volt power to the coach. Now comes the good part. After watching your video I checked under the hood and right there before my eyes was the 12 volt safety breaker with a re-set switch on the side. Pushed it in and Voila... IT WORKED! Problem solved. Thanks

This is the most effective, simple, and amazing explanation of the issues common amongst campers especially for new owners who purchased campers from private seller. They take off batteries, turn off switches, and do little things inside that's comfy for their needs but forget to tell the new buyer that. Sometimes they don't sell hoses, hide them inside, or take them off before the person picks up but was attached when viewing and purchase. It can send someone into a frenzy especially if they are learning. Thank you for this video. It confirms the very things so many are facing without anyone to speak to or resolve.

Although you posted this awhile ago there are still some of us who are learning how our campers work. Your video was a big help, so thank you. My travel trailer is set up much the same as yours; these same circuit breakers are located very near the battery which is currently at the front of the trailer. I am considering moving a new replacement lithium battery to the back of the trailer, where it is out of the elements and more secure. So now I have to relocate the wiring and these breakers to keep everything working. It's a bit of a challenge for us non-electrical types.................. Thanks again, Bob in Grand Rapids, MI

Sir, You just saved us $250 AT LEAST and saved our camping trip. We got to the campsite and the slides wouldn't work. NOTHING. WE loaded up and came home and started testing/looking/searching for a clue to get them working again. I came across you video about the resettable breakers and it WORKED! Heading back to camp in the morning, thanks entirely to you! THANK YOU!

Thank you so much for this video! Saved me a whole lot of hassle! I accidentally shorted the batteries when attaching the cables by touching my wrench to the terminals. I was going crazy looking all over trying to figure out why I didn't have any power. All of my breakers and fuses were good, but I didn't know about this one. Tapping the little button reset it and I'm good to go again!

I have been struggling with this same problem with my new travel trailer for several days, I was totally stressed out trying to figure out what the problem was. Pushed it back in, and now everything works fine.........thanks for sharing this video, I really appreciated your help with this. Thanks again!

Super helpful! Followed the power lines with my multi-meter until I got to this breaker in my 05' Fleetwood Tioga. It was in the battery box (under the entry step), underneath a tangle of wires and relay boxes. Pressed the button and it fixed it. Bought a replacement at the local RV store for $5 out the door. 45 minutes from start to finish! This video saved me HOURS of troubleshooting. Thanks

I can't thank you enough. After your video I checked the camp trailer again and found someone before I owned it had attached a black cable to that block. So when I put new batteries in I attached it to the negative on the battery and nothing worked. Been fighting it for a couple days. I will be replacing that cable with a red cable so I have power actually going to the converter and distribution board 👍 thank you so much again you saved my ass👍

Thanks for the video. I didn't find a breaker like you show, I had a faulty on/off switch that would turn off 12V interior trailer functions. I had never seen the switch before (owned the trailer for 8yrs now), just in the frame behind the batteries. The tongue jack would still work and I was getting 12V+ from the batteries. Because of your video, I was able to trace it back to this push/pull switch, that I've since learned is called a disconnect switch. Thanks again for getting me thinking in the right direction.

I had the same exact conditions that you described at the beginning of this video and I found the Manual Breaker on my RV as well and the little button on the side of it and sure enough, it was popped out, like a GFCI outlet button. I pushed it in and Eureka, it worked! Thanks again! PS, I'm proud to be another Colorado, Mile High Camper!

Bro, just had this same situation. My breakers after the battery look a little different but same principle. I replaced the batteries before finding this. Fortunately the batteries, even though weren’t the root cause, we’re at the end of their life anyways and needed to be replaced regardless; so money not wasted there. Appreciate the post for useful information.

You absolutely saved my sanity. I knew my battery was good because I got a reading of 12.56 volts and I knew my converter was working because I got a reading of 13.26 volts but it would not charge the battery and when unplugged from shore power nothing worked but my electrical legs and slide out (they are wired directly to the battery). I did not think this little black piece was a breaker. I thought it was just a notch to hold the plastic pieces together. Thanks Mile High Campers.

Thanks for this video. This pass weekend we were camping. As we packed up and got ready to leave everything was working fine. The last thing I do is roll up the shore power cord. Once i rolled it up the only thing I had left to do was roll in the awning. Behold, it doesn't work. Had to hook up shore power again for it to work. We got home found this video and this morning i went check and sure enough. After resetting it, everything works again. Saved us a service call. Thanks again! . 👍

ME TOO! Spent a lot of time trying to find out why I did not have 12V power with a new battery. (I actually had 12v power to one thing , so even more confusing) found these manual breakers (which I had been looking right at and thought they were just junction blocks, maybe a relay) pushed the button on the end and everything works now. I had no idea that was even a button! Thank you so much. Just saved me a lot of time and money, and our weekend trip is back on!! 😀

I want to say, I'm happy to watch this video. My hubby and I were out camping off grid for five days. My batteries started getting low so I decided to use the generator to charge them back up...after two hours we decided 50% charge was good for the day. Hubby turned off generator and checked our power...nothing. we checked circuits, fuses, etc. We decided to end our trip because the fridge would thaw, food would spoil. I decided to do research and figure this out on my own. Batteries were fully charged, checked all breakers, fuses etc. I thought it's got to be a simple fix. When we got home everything worked with electricity and with the generator. We replaced the battery kill switch...nothing changed...checked the relay box and thought about replacing it, but decided to see if I was missing something else. Searched KZread videos and came across this video...thank you...I found my block and hit the reset button. Everything works again! Now I have to figure out what tripped it. Too much plugged in when I had the generator running? I have a small jackery 250. Basically besides a light and the fridge that's all that's plugged into my 12 volt plug.
