in the original novel Hailan was physically described as being *the size of two men and a face as large as a plate* aka a modern-day average American in 18th century China

in the original novel, by this time Hailan was already physically described in Ruyi's POV as being the size of a modern-day American

@@navier38 in "Empresses of the Palace" during the Wife Selection of 3rd prince Hongshi, Qing'ying is a straight up spoiled 6ıţčң that even dared to push Long'yue away for touching her specially-tailored qipao. And since Hongshi rejected her, Yixiu (Empress) then ordered her niece to marry 4th prince Hong'li instead, to which Qing'ying threw a fit. apparently in the original novel "Ruyi _zhuan_ " both Ruyi and Hailan aren't completely white, but not morally gray as well. Some examples: -Hailan DID kill 2nd prince Yong'lian, by stuffing reed flowers in his pillow (which was changed in the drama novelization to 3rd prince Yongzhang's cloth doll with reed flowers and having Lianxin pick up the doll and place ot beside 2nd prince's bedside, as her own subtle revenge against Langhua for marrying her to Wangqin against her will) -while the whole Forbidden City were mourning Crown Prince Duanhui (Yong'lian's posthumous title), Ruyi & Hailan were low-key gloating over Langhua's sadness: "Do you hear them crying? Such music to our ears." -Hailan straight up confessed her role in Yongzhang's humiliation and fall of favor from favor during Empress Xiaoxian (Langhua)'s funeral, and Zhen Huan punished her by kneeling in her bedchamber (with Ruyi having to fetch her) -Hailan straight up guilt trips Su Lüyun (Chun) into submission with Yongzhang's cloth doll. Lüyun angirly asks why Hailan hasn't burned the doll yet as promised (in the aftermath of Duanhui's death), and Hailan retorts as to why Lüyun was backstabbing Ruyi into coveting the Phoenix Throne (which in the first place can never even happen given that she's Han Chinese)

Question: here, Arou clearly admits that she has the backing of Gui Fei and the Empress. Ruyi heard her. Why didn’t she use that to prove her innocence?

Even if Ruyi has evidence, it cannot overwhelm the support of the queen and the imperial concubine family. Ruyi's family is not capable enough.
