Alpha Radiation causes cancer and is emitted from nuclear weapons and nuclear waste, all of which is extremely dangerous. So yeah, you won't feel any pain but you'll certainly feel the cancer

@argeancomics32915 ай бұрын
I never understood why Rutherford was expecting the particles going through the gold foil. At his time, atoms was considered a solid sphere (Dalton or Thompson´s model). So, Rutherfor should expect every particles going back and not going through. The fact that the majority of particles passes through a supposed foil compound of "solid atoms" should have been the AHA!! moment. But, every place I´ve read and seen videos of this experience, Rutherfor was surprised about particles bouncing back.

Why there was vaccume in this experiment tell why this didn't tell in this video
@hammerfall321
3 жыл бұрын
Because if the experiment would be conducted in the air, the alpha particles (Helium Nucleus) would scatter at the gas molecules and atoms, like Oxigen, Nitrogen, Watervapour, CO2 etc. and would get attenuated very fast, so the alpha particle beam would not travel more than a few centimeters.
