For Christmas my lovely girlfriend bought the Rusty Wallace racing experience driving package.
I've Never being in a stock car before so it was quite a amazing experience.
This program is not a free for all and there are few rules you are forced to follow (for obvious reasons). You have a spotter pretty much telling you what to do at all times. ( when to come up on the track, when to pass, how you are doing, etc.)
Even after using a back booster pad, when i got out on the track i ended up working the brakes and throttles with my ankles.(im 5'8")
I would have been a million times more comfortable had id been a few more inches closer. Not a huge deal for my first time in a stock car though as i was just acclimating to the whole experience. The cars are governed to 4800 rpms if i recall, and they made it clear as day that downshifting is a big no-no. Probably because a few people have looped a car downshifting incorrectly.
The speakers for the spotter were way too fucking loud. So loud that every time he spoke, the speakers distorted hard and i couldn't understand hardly anything he said.
Leaving pit lane my spotter was feverishly telling me to get into 4th gear. Probably so people don't grab the wrong gear and loop the car while coming out of the pits.
On the track, there are two lines of tape you have to stay between, which which is the "racing line". This is to keep you off the wall and for the pros to do there ride-alongs on the outside.

Did you have a ball shifter or lighting rods?
Those cars go a lot faster they have them rigged to a certain rpm on the carb cable
Nick, what mount did you use to attach your Go Pro to their helmet? Suction cup mount? My family bought me a driving package for Father's Day to drive in October in Houston. I can't wait!

wingman7388 badass man! youll love it. Actually i used this clip that i got with the gopro that i have no idea what its for. But it worked great. I just wedged it up on the visor. The only downside is you cant open your visor until your ready to get out of the car. You're only turning 3-5k , and I hear something weird - do they have a rev limiter?

William Hommel they’re chipped. Man, they all have GM 300hp roller crate engines in them. You wouldn’t spin them past 5k but a few times.

Cool vid but the track doesn't really seem long enough to where you can really get some speed,,,,

How did you get the gopro footage do they supply the camera? Or can i just bring my own gopro?

In a real racecar my radio is so loud wooth out cAr on it hurts my ears eberytime i have to turn it down until.i start my car and fixing to go green then i turn my raio back up in my reak asphalt latemodel. This is good for ppl who neber been in a race ar before bit it still wont get you close to 140 mph maybe 120-130 thats it and thats at Atlanta motorspeedway and bigger tracks. I use to be a pro driver for them govkng ride alongs and out top speed at Atlanta in ride along was 160 mph

Why’s it cutting out at around 3k+? They should let you let it sing. Obviously no one would let it blow up but these cars are built for higher rpm’s

What the hell? No downshifting? How are you supposed to accelerate out of a corner?

+Jackson Fuller the diff gears on these cars are big enough to pull you out of the corner, if you ever have the opportunity to drive one youll find out plenty quick

There's no downshifting in stock car racing at oval tracks.
