Good job keep preserving history!
Great job, I thought this would be an apple green helmet from how it looked like then it went feldgrau!
Thank you for calling it preservation
The only one problem with Oxalic is that if you let it too long in, the color of the helmet change.. had it often. Now, i dont let it more than 30 mn. Great videos!
Buenísimo....y mejor aún la prueba...gracias
Looks really good Nice restoration
Excellent job!
wow. great techniques! bravo!
Nice job!!! That's what a restoration should be
the old adage "rust never sleeps" and my guess is there is some still rust under the surface , especially under the fold of the rim .

Looks really good. Restored, but keeps its character unlike the m27 or ssh36.
Wow you really did polish that helmet.
Thank you for not killing it, this is perfect preservation
Не мало времени потрачено для того что бы востановить практически в то состояние,в котором эта каска была на её владельце! За труды и за всё 🤔😀👍!)
Would you ever try evaporust to get rid of the rust on your items?

So glad you didn't take a wire wheel to it. Preservation is cool restoration to look new is wrong.

why didn't you use rust remover to remove the rusts?
А мне понравилось , дружище ! Молодец !
Good job and great final result! Only I wouldn't use hammer to get rust off the helmet, in that way you can damage helmet and get holes on in....it's too rough! I use some kind of steel brush, that cleans the largest rust pieces without affecting the original color. ;)

このくらいの仕上がりもいいね。
Another great job. Is its color correct?
how do I mix Microcrystalline Wax with solvent and what solvent do I use
Nice one like it😍
niceee!!
Excellent preservation of the helmet + preservation of original paintwork Try deep soaking of the item in solution of benzotriazole (BTA) + alcohol (you must first check the reaction with the original paint), followed by the application of microcrystalline wax + solvent. Sorry for the inaccurate translation. I use Google Translate.

i agree. this is very common and very strange. and insulting. also happens very often with comments too, supposedly "unappropriate" for youtube, they bann thousands of viewers for no serious reason. like youtube is trying to enforce a particular policy or strategy. i think it is time for ELECTED goverments to take action and shut down youtube for good. there will be plenty of social platforms for us to use. it is dangerous to let a NON ELECTED company rule and dictate what people say or do. this is facism

@@wwiituberestoration1011I agree that the vinegar can be dangerous, but only if the metal very thin or completely compromise. Personally, i prefer preserve the helmet and not the paint, but this is only a my opinion. I like your videos in any case . 😉

@@wwiituberestoration1011 Are there any books on exactly how to restore helmets, for people who have never done it before? Where would someone start? Thank you.
@realcritical-kr2dd
3 жыл бұрын
@@cs2to4 you can start by using vinegar water which I know for a fact it will get rid of the rust for most part. Probably let it sit for about 3 to 4 days or more if it isn't ready yet, if it's ready, then proceed to wash it with water and dry it up because the rust will appear again so whatever is left on the stahlhelm use a wire brush to scrape the rest of the rust still left hanging, most of the rust should be gone. After cleaning it up, paint it with etching primer to prevent the rust from appearing. Then, after that paint it whatever colour you want original or leave as is, your choice 😉 this dude was no helpful since he only does his own stuff and not even give us hints or help any of us. If left too long in vinegar water, I'll start eating up the piece of steel. I tested out with rusty variant pieces found laying around so you often have to check if it's ready to clean. If there's small holes on the stahlhelm, use JB weld originals to fix the holes. But if you wanna save the pant and not lose its value, then use that oxalic acid to get rid of the rust without hurting the paint.
Hi what solvent do you use for the microcrystalline wax please?
@Friendroid

Xylene or other high flashpoint hydrocarbon solvent
At first I thought that the helmet was painted green, but now I’m wondering what the green stuff covering the paint was, some reversible affect from the paint aging, some sort of mold, or something else. Edit: the thumbnail worried me.
When I was a kid,around 1965,I,found one of these I a barrel on trash day.Right on top tossed out.I think it was a air raid warden helmet.Flatter flare ,black,with a Nazi eagle decal.

If you keep in acid for a long time, then the decal will be destroyed.
Gute aufwendige Arbeit ! 🧐
