I have some questions about this. Is the handle metal? It looks like that to me, but I want to be sure because I have a bayonet. It is complete and in wonderful condition. The handle has wood on the sides. I don't know if you can subject wood to all those chemicals and scratching without damaging it. Clearly, someone who does restoration knows better, that is why I am asking. My bayonet has a stamp on the frog with the officer's name, location, and date--1935. This makes me wonder if bayonet manufacturing altered over time as everything else seems to have.
