Rusty and the Boulder: The Episode that Broke Me as a Child

Ойындар

Rusty and the Boulder was an episode of Thomas that absolutely terrified me as a child and still gives me the shivers. Is the episode good outside of that childhood trauma though? Watch and find out!

The only moment of this episode that unnerves me to this day, is Rheneas back-pedalling over the viaduct, with this eerie echo effect accompanying the brief, dramatic score that plays throughout the chase. This episode itself never really bothered me besides that Also Alec Baldwin’s delivery of the line: “We should have left this part of the island… alone…” always gets me, being the only time I actually enjoyed a narrator besides Ringo & Michael.

Some interesting points about Thumper there. He could have just been a generic, faceless drilling machine and it would change absolutely nothing. Part of me thinks this was the original intention and they put a face on him to sell toys of him, but at the same time I don't think it was. The face reference sheets show two more faces for Thumper (one concerned and the other looking annoyed), which suggests Thumper was to get a somewhat larger role or at the very least a speaking role of some kind. The episode never scared me as a kid, but I find it quite a bit unnerving. Especially with the implications that there could be supernatural forces at work with Boulder and the indication that Sir Topham Hatt knows more than he's letting on.

Never knew about the extra faces for Thumper, that's pretty interesting. I find it to be such a fascinating little aspect of the show because it makes me question the varying levels of sentience these things can have. Agreed with the last bit, the seeds of something deeper are laid there, such a tease!

Perhaps after this episode you the found Gordon's face unsettling? As it reminded you of this episode? I remember having the VHS Spooks and Surprises and although this episode creeped me out a little, I found the Duncan episode far scarier as a kid. That one did freak me out. Good video btw. :)

Great video my friend, I can so understand the fear. The classic era had that feel to it at times. These were the episodes that traumatized me as a kid. Well done again my friend ☺️🚂🚃 kzread.info/dash/bejne/lIqhxrV-fMLgkrg.html
