Rusty and the Boulder (RWS Style Adaptation)
This was supposed to be part of the same "book" where the Duncan Gets Spooked adaptation was in. This was the first remake I filmed on my Mac laptop so there may be a few technical faults (like the mouse cursors) but here is a more Awdry like take on perhaps one of the most crazy episodes of the show!
Note: The following video is intended for adult fans of the show for nostalgia purposes. Although children can watch, they are not the intended audience.

The fact that you made realistic versions of Rusty & the Boulder and Thomas & the Jet Engine, the 2 most unrealistic episodes in the show, astounds me

Agreed. Not to mention he also did what the original Rusty to the Boulder and subsequent remakes (as far as I know) didn't: making Thumper an actual character, not just a machine with a face. Seriously, you could have had Thumper be a generic faceless machine (or even get rid of him and replace with with workmen drilling) from the original story and there'd be no difference whatsoever.

Maybe Rusty and The Boulder was unrealistic, But unlike Thomas The Jet Engine, RaTB had so much seriousness in it. At no point did they take TTJE seriously, and I guess it’s because Britt Alcroft had returned from Us and TATMR, this Mitton could no longer make Thomas more serious.
I am looking forward to an expanded adaptation of “bye, George” made by you.

That pun tho
As much as I love the chaotic nature of rusty and the boulder I always did find it weird that the Boulder was able to travel so far in the actual episode. Even if you believe the theory that the Boulder was possessed and actively trying to demolish the construction disturbing its land, how would it have gotten through any of the tunnels on the railway?
This was a nice realistic take on one of the show's most unrealistic episodes. Having the boulder simply roll down the incline makes much more sense than having it roll all across the railway. And I like that the boulder was just left where it landed instead of being moved to a hill near the line - that was just a recipe for disaster, as your two Boulder episodes from TEOS season 5 proved!

though I wish it was still perfectly round.
This was extremely well directed and well written. Another phenomenal adaptation mate.
I like how this is longer than the actual episode.
This is an amazing remake that not only gives the story more realism but can provide continuity to how the Blue Mountain Quarry was constructed and how it could've fit into the RWS if Christopher or Wilbert made one more book!

Now that you mention it, this would explain why they relocated to the Blue Mountain Quarry.
Interesting take on 'Rusty & the Boulder'. I liked how you gave other characters parts to play and Thumper some speaking roles. Plus the way you brought the accident into the scene was a big surprise. Well done :) .
You should do a version of Thomas, Percy and the Dragon in the style of an RSW story. Like how Wilber Awdry would have written it

No you should do a Season 8-24 RWS styled episodes I hate the Classics
You really proved that this episode can be canon in the Railway Series lore!! I'm thoroughly impressed!!
I missed the premiere, but I'll say this. I don't know how you did it, but you made one of the best episodes in the show even better and more realistic! This was an amazing video, and I can't wait to see what you'll adapt next.
I like how straight to the point this was compared to the over exaggerated action in the TVS version. Great video
This is a good little RWS style take on this episode. Sure the boulder's "Rock and Roll" rampage is short, but it's terrifying to see a boulder like this coming at you. You did a good job here. Especially in the new trainz game that you're using for future Trainz related video. Well done!
This makes SO MUCH sense than the original episode!
This brings me back Season 4 vibes, This is how to make Thomas great
I love this story! Absolutely amazing. Excellent work
This is absolutely stunning. You just keep getting better and better. Keep up the good work.
I love how Boulder is portrait here as a gigant Rock in the Mountains perfect
I like the episodes you did with boulder in The Engine of Sodor stories, I couldn't stop watching it over and over
this was released a day after my birthday which is may 9th, idk why i just found this interesting Love this video, keep it up with these rws style adaptions
Rusty and the boulder is my favorite episode of season 5! I love your RWS style adaptation of the story especially the Boulder which is my favorite part of the story! ❤❤❤❤
I really liked this one. Keep up the great work!!
Such an awesome take on the story really enjoyed it great work good sir
I'm looking forward to seeing Railway Series adaptations of "Something In The Air", "James and the Trouble with Trees" and "Busy Going Backwards".
Now that was very good! Had me at the edge on my seat there.
Great job 👍
great job as always, this is one of my favourite episodes in thomas and friends!
Can't wait for another excellent video!

I look forward to seeing how this will be pulled off. It must have been quite difficult to adapt this in the same way Awdry would have written it.
Hey Thomas1! Thanks for all these videos you've made over the years. I'd say 3 times over they've kept me smiling in probably the hardest times of my life. This ones no different with the pandemic and a flunked year in university. You may or may not know this, but your content actually helps people in some capacity. PS: if I were to throw any ideas around I'd suggest a continuation of NWR origins only of the Skarloey railway.
I'm so excited!
Nice video. T1E2H3, you are quite creative. I remember the series’s episode and it was so funny. It was released in 1998, the same year I was born.
I loved this!
absolutely chilling!
Yoooooo that thumper looks great

One of my favorite episodes from Season 5! YES!!!
Excellent adaptation!
In short, we should have left this part of the island...alone.
It looks great!
Rusty and the Boulder was always a top favorite Season 5 episode. I really liked Thumper so much, i was over the moon when i got the ERTL Thumper one Christmas. I love the episode, it was actually the first episode i watched when i started watching again. This more realistic Adaptation was superb!
Great work.
You finally posted a trainz thing again!
That explosion was banging
Nice work on your own version of this story
"Rusty and the Boulder can't work in the RWS." T1E2H3: "Hold my Trainz."
Nice new editing
Extremely well rewritten.
This is how you write a good Thomas episode
Nice one it really would have been cool to see as a Rws story.
Nice video!
I'm looking forward to your extended version of Put Upon Percy as well as James and the Trouble with Trees.
Noice work :3
This was changed a bit in the TV adaptation, I liked the TV one more, but this is fine, you have my like T1E2H3
I remember this episode
I'm gonna miss it. I'm sorry, but I'm sure it will be great!
I used to have a Thomas wooden railway set of rusty and the boulder based from an episode to me like that.
Man, This Does Feel Like A Wilbert Awdry Written Story
Nice Job
Soooo coooooolll!!!😀
Good Job With The Video.
What message the bolder is trying to give Mr Percival and his engines
Damn Thats was good
A fantastic adaption of the original story, somehow I feel it’s better than the way the show did it. Much more contained and well, believable.
3:48 Duncan: (sobs) no, it’s my fault. If I’d believe rusty from the start I wouldn’t have got thumper into trouble
I think you did a good job, remaking the story.
Hooray
Nice video. And I also do videos on Mac. And I’m guessing you used IMovie for editing, because I use IMovie to.
This is both better than the lazy models of the fat controller being in charge and the scooby doo boulder nonsense in the TVS.

Funny thing is I was listening too Narrow Gauge Horror Audio version of this story...
1:28 peter Sam: HEY! narrator: peter Sam was so lurched up by what he just heard he flew right at his friend, (he smashes into some wooden stacks) but missed & crashed into a large delivery of planks Peter sam: (snaps) You said you would help me live this down , I was nearly relegated to spare engine until I can learn to be patient!
Should be a good watch
Cool 😎
As one big video for this year, can you rank every season in Thomas? (Or every season in the classic era if that is too much)
duncan had to get overhauled
Oh so this is why the skarloey engines moved to the BMQ
Since that you're still alive, do you by any chance of make an NWR Origins 3 about the narrow gauge engines or about Diesel, Daisy,Trevor, Stepney, Bulgy, Salty, and Harvey?
I really like this video, can I ask you haw do you make these videos?
this seems very likely if rusty and the boulder was in rws
Les go
Amazing video and when did sir topen hat son start looking after the railway
Cool
wait a minute that none of big boulder I don't think he's going to circle and any ball too
Very grand and scary
K I'm wondering how many deaths will be featured in this
If only thumper had a speaking role in future series or maybe some reference to this episode
If only Rusty would have the black design in the TV series.
