Rusty and Kenny Wallace's Former Busch Series NASCAR Shop Tour! (Showing Up Unannounced)
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Back in 1988 Rusty Wallace fired up a Busch Series team with his brother @KennyWallace36 as the driver. Kenny raced out of THIS building at the very beginning of his NASCAR career. He has not been back inside since '93! Rusty sold the team to Felix Sabates of SABCO racing who ran Kenny in the cup series for one year before letting him go to FILMAR Racing, where the former shop can be found in part two below!

These people were caught off guard with a rolling camera when we walked in 😂After this we went to the former FILMAR Racing shop where the famous Red Dog and Square D cars came from! You guys were really lucky that they were fans of the channel, him just barging into that working shop with rolling cameras and starting a shop tour without really asking for permission and such, icluding stopping all work activity was hilarious!

He's just #goodpeople. But he'll always be known for pushing Sr to his final win. That was a GREAT last 4 laps at D£GA
Kenny should be a re-occurring guest host on the channel. He's an excellent tour guide and first-hand historian. That, and he doesn't "make phone calls or haggle around--[he] just walks in and says 'hey, get outta my shop!'" 😂

Hands down one of the greatest human beings around! Kenny Schrader is another one but Herman has that personality
Kenny just walking in out of nowhere into that shop introducing himself and talking.. reminds me so much of my dad and uncles when I was a kid who wherever they went or shops they went to or whatever would just walk in and start talking and introducing themselves "never met a stranger" type vibe.. I love it and glad you keep that stuff in these videos

Walking in with a live camera - classic. Big shout out to Gerber Collision for going along and being welcoming to letting you guys do this impromptu tour like this. And Kenny's such a personality, I can't get tired of listening to him talk about racing history.
Kenny is a class act. He always includes a name to his driving days. He's so humble and appreciative. Hes also a funny guy that no one could refuse to let in a shop. Thanks guys great series.

I stumbled onto this video by accident. Rusty was my Cup Driver; Kenny was my Busch Driver- I met Kenny a few times at Nazareth Speedway (Busch). I followed Rusty, Kenny, and Mike Wallace. And just like Kenny said in this video, after Dale passed, Nascar just was not the same.-- Thank you for this-

So glad you are documenting all these NASCAR stories that otherwise would be lost to time. So much of this covers what I'll always consider the Golden Age of stock car racing. Like Kenny said Dale's death immediately changed the whole world of American stock car racing.

I’ve never met Kenny, but I met his brother Rusty at a motor coach convention once, he was sponsored by Prevost car at the time, and he was at their booth. Nobody was even standing by him. I walked up introduced myself and we talked for a bit mostly about his ASA days and racing up in Minnesota at elko speedway and the state fair track. My wife was not with me at the time ( she was back at the hotel) she was a huge rusty fan, I asked rusty to call her and say hi. Which he was happy to do, she thought it was somebody else that was pulling a prank but quickly realized it was him it was hilariously funny. She still talks about it to this day. Great stuff, keep it up. Thank Kenny for his tour it was awesome

Thank you Mitchell, Logan, and Herman for taking us on another interesting piece of racing history.
I grew up in St. Louis from '70 to '99 and have lived in Orlando since. Best decision I ever made, but I spent a lot of time on Old Sugar Creek Rd in Fenton. Kenny is a very good example of the old school St. Louisian I remember. Funny, "The Man" shirt means a lot to anyone from the area. There are no fans like Card's fans.
Wow! What an unscripted tour/ride in racing history. Keep up the good work, guys. You two are a team that is making it happen.

These videos are just killer!!! The Wallace’s were my favorite as a kid in the 90s! You’re lucky as hell to be able to this with all these greats from the time when they were hero’s !!!!
30 years later and Kenny remembers everything I lived in Kannapolis as a kid/teenager in the 90's yes these race shops were a big deal back then
The Hermanator did a Kodiak throwback before throwbacks were even a thing. And Bobby Labonte drove 44 like in Terry’s 1984 championship. It’s fitting this is being done with Darlington and the All Star weekend around the corner.
Great channel and video Mitch!! I’m old doctor who has always loved racing and your videos bring back a lot of great memories. Attended my first NASCAR race the Winston 500 at Talladega in 1972. David Pearson won. Cracked me up when Kenny almost dropped a F-bomb.

Hey Mitchell, this was another great video with the great Kenny Wallace. He really shines at moments like this it's nice to see the sincerity of the stories Love the mindset, history and emotions he shows. I have to say I always liked Kenney as race car driver, especially during his Cup years. All of his tv time, interviews and the announcing that he did back in the day. Much respect. With that said, I also have to say that I've tries but can't get into his KZread channel. But again, great job here. Thanks to you all.
Another awesome video of nascar history. Always was a Rusty fan. Good to see Kenny doing well and giving us a look into the past. Thanks to the body shop too, nice of them to let y'all in.
Another great trip down memory lane. Thanks Mitchell and Logan.
respect for gerber collision for also going along with the sudden video tour
I didn't know much about Kenny until you did the first video of him. I have grown to love him, he is truly a unique person and loves to share history of my favorite era of nascar. He spoke the absolute truth about nascar while standing there at the top of the driveway. I love what you are doing and I hope and pray that you and Logan keep doing what you do! It's so cool to see Kenny's enthusiasm and energy for these videos. It's pretty darn cool to keep getting these background stories about his career in Nascar. You can hear the emotions just flowing out during his commentary. My family has always been Kenny Wallace fans. He actually called my son on his birthday years ago. I answered the phone and didn't believe it was really him. I hung up, he called right back and said No, no, no, I really am Kenny!! Anyways he spent probably 3 or 4 minutes on the phone with my son and wished him the best birthday ever. And it's a memory we keep to this day. Anyways, thanks again folks for another great production!!

You're literally breathing life back into this history that we are losing more and more of every year. Thanks to you 2 for doing the leg work that it takes. Its crazy how talking to one person leads to this door/shop opening and then so on and so forth. Went from awesome rv's and badass booooom tubes to interviewing and taking tours with yesteryears superstars. That is so cool! Be proud of yourselves cuz what you're doing is so freaking awesome! Great video. Kenny is a legend. So cool to document all of this for future generations. I started as a fan in the mid 80’s and really lost interest in mid 2000’s. I wasn’t a huge Dale Earnhardt fan but Kenny sure is right - things have not been the same since he’s been gone. Keep up the great work with these videos!
Great job Kenny , memories of the past can be great thing ... love the story how it all started You have a great brother >> always was a Rusty fan ...

Another very interesting video. I laughed about your comment near the end of the video when you said that Kenny has made your job a lot easier to do the last two segments. He doesn't require much prompting to launch into more interesting stories. Visiting his old shops in the last two segments was fun to give him a chance to reminisce about his career in NASCAR. I'm still a fairly new subscriber but intend to look back at your old videos. (By the way, it added a lot to intersperse the video with the pictures of Kenny's cars from that time -- even to the extent of one with Kenny's toolbox in the background.)

Mitchell, thank you for the quick response. Please consider in the future doing some CARS Tour shop tours. As you know that tour is growing by leaps and bounds. I don't know if they even allow cameras in their shop, but the one I would really like to see is Dale Jr's late model shop. Carson Kvapil is winning everything. I think he is there every day. It is on Performance Road in Mooresville. Last I heard, there is supposed to be 5 cup drivers running at Wilkesboro next week in CARS.
