Very smart idea on leveling the bench top and the legs with the sawmill. Very nice build.
Awesome video! I made a cedar bench in very similar fashion not too long ago and so in love with how simple and beautiful furniture joint like this is. I did learn a tough lesson, my wedges were not In line with the grain, so I split my piece! I fixed it with long timber screws but lesson learned!
Man! You are the kind of person that inspires other people! Excellent work!
Watching you do this properly with hand tools makes me nostalgic.
beautiful. tears in my eyes. so nice! If everyone would behave like this, there would be a perfect world!
Just found your page today and really appreciate seeing these traditional methods and their final products
Very Romantic and awesome bench.. Great job!
OMG perfect ending...tears, happy for you!

Making the bench was very interesting... and I loved your attention to detail in how you handled that part of this project... Made me smile... But the end of the video... Oh my Lord... that was more than beautiful... that made me cry...

Nice job on the bench. Even better when you put the rose on it. Loved even more when you and your wife enjoyed it together with the rose. Any how awesome job. Keep up the good work

The bench work was amazing, producing a very nice result. However, the husband/wife/child connection at the end exceeded anything associated with the milling, hole drilling, hickory legs, finishing ... Relationships are far more important than great woodworking skills.

I don't know where your channel has been hiding but I loved it, begining to end. Building furniture like this is a continuing learning experience defined only by your own personal creativity. I've been doing similar things for a while and yet enjoyed watching the subtle differences you applied while tackling common obstacles. One minor tip, put a saw cut in the leg tenon before driving it home, making sure, of course, that the wedge goes 90° to the grain so it won't split and force you to add another bowtie. : ) You've earned another subscriber!
Definitely one of the most awesome vids on youtube to date!!!
the end is so romantic! This is the best gift

Why do i ...i... have tears , It`s just a Bench.
How incredibly romantic! It was great to see the red oak turn into something wonderful like that beautiful bench. But then to see you an your (very) pregnant wife sit on it, in the woods...yeah. Total rewarding moment.
Catching this one late, but another great video. Congrats and hope everyone is healthy.
I like how in the US (or pretty well anywhere other than Australia) you just shift a sheet of iron without a care in the world not having to worry about what's going to slither out and kill you! Edit: And of course the curious cat puts in an appearance at the end!
Much enjoyed! Informative, for a newbie woodworker. Haha, yet another way to use a woodmizer right there - got the job done! ;) As a matter of personal preference I would've been happy with an oiled finish - that oak is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Great work!
it 's so beautiful at the end.
