Rustic Metal Speakeasy Gate Door | JIMBO'S GARAGE

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

A client provided me a design and asked me to build them a custom arched rustic looking speakeasy door. This wood and metal outdoor gate has a medieval flare that makes it very unique. The metal knots I added to the wood at the perfect finishing touch. This was a great welding project and the client was very happy.

As a low-skill fabricator, I really appreciate hearing Jimbo say, "I forgot about the lock box" or "If I did it again, I do that differently." The humility along with the skill makes these videos that much more enjoyable and relatable. Keep up the great work.

This was pretty AWESOME, Sir! Thank you for the video. I really enjoyed watching and learning from it. Also, I really like that you give us the sources for all or most of your tools and fasteners. This makes a really huge difference for there builders such as myself. Trying to source materials and certain tools can be very trying, and when you're running a business that depends upon these things.... I just cannot thank you enough!

About that "viewing window". There's a saying in the landscape industry (and probably elsewhere). "The smaller the space the more important the detail". You nailed it with the smaller window. The small details MAKES a good project turn into a spectacular project. Great job!

I love that as a master craftsman, you recognized the ratio of the first window and went out of your way to make it the way you thought would look better! You could've very easily just went with the first option and 99% of people wouldn't have known any different. But you went above and beyond despite that. True sign of quality work!

Awesome video! It is called spar urethane because it used to be used on the spar (pole that holds the sail) in old wooden ships. It has resins in it that hold up better against UV rays. Poly urethane for indoor, spar for outdoor. I am a hobbyist woodworker learning how to weld and you are a bad ass! Cheers from Los Angeles!

Amazing!! If I had the space, my garage would be exactly like yours! I have most of what you have but smaller scale. 120v welder, 3x3 table and 1/4 the space!! You do nice work Jimbo!! Use the flat sanding pad to prevent divots. I really liked how you created the radius flat bar technique! Having the large table is a god send ! I’ve leveled up my shop/work just by investing in the $400 Evo saw, and 3x3 ,3/8” thick table. I just wish I had the room for the larger and super flat table. Thanks jim

Also for the holes the hardware you are using. We always build boxes that look like trapazoids. Have holes made exact on a drill press so when you go to install you arent fiddling with a step drill or the drill catching and spinning out of your hands. You just make small welds on top and bottom and its to go. Best of luck Jimbo. Love your channel

Excellent work, as usual Jimbo. I really do enjoy and learn a lot from your videos. Hearing your comment about the lack of space for long material on your chop saw, I thought of a solution I’ve seen on several wood working videos. You could cut out and hinge a section of your welding table and have the saw flip up from below and be level with the surface of the table. When not in use, lower the saw and close the table top. Obviously, that would require cutting into your table...which may not be something you want to do. Just a thought. Thanks for making such great videos!

Very nice quality job. Love your video's. Planning to build one. To do a high quality job in a Northern climate, I will be galvanizing the metal ( inside and out of the square tubing). Afterward slightly sand blasting the galvanized metal prior to painting, so the paint will properly adhere to the metal. I do understand why you don't have to do that in a Southern Climate. Thanks again for making this video.
