Love your work! Some constructive criticism: -Include photographs of the originals in their original paint scheme, maybe even period photos of the items in use if you can find them! -Try and get a little closer to the original colours with military gear. It's doable with some research and colourmatching, and it would take your restorations up a level ;) Keep it up!

The poem was set to the tune of a popular British song written by John Stafford Smith for the Anacreontic Society, a men's social club in London. "To Anacreon in Heaven" (or "The Anacreontic Song"), with various lyrics, was already popular in the United States. Set to Key's poem and renamed "The Star-Spangled Banner", it soon became a well-known U.S. patriotic song. From wikipedia.

Nice helmet. Restoration was nice too. I thought that this kind of helmet would've been painted black or something tho. Wouldn't a ballpin hammer helped to reduce the dents and bents? Also, I have to agree with a lot of people, La Marseillaise would've been better/make more sense than the US anthem. That said, I think I recall you said you didn't understand French, so how are you able to understand stuff on sites like "leboncoin"?

The poem was set to the tune of a popular British song written by John Stafford Smith for the Anacreontic Society, a men's social club in London. "To Anacreon in Heaven" (or "The Anacreontic Song"), with various lyrics, was already popular in the United States. Set to Key's poem and renamed "The Star-Spangled Banner", it soon became a well-known U.S. patriotic song.

Great work! There was a time if I saw a helmet in such a condition I would have just said 'forget it', kept the brass piece from the front, and tossed the helmet. After seeing this video, I'll think twice before tossing something like that. :) I used to have 8 helmets in my collection, but since given them away. I had 3 black felt helmets with black felt visors and 2 white ones just like them with brass plated skull and cross bones on the fronts and a brass spike on top of all of them. They were, and still are, part of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows costumes for the lodges. Those helmets dated between 1910 and 1930. I had a white canvas covered cork pith helmet similar in shape to the British Bobby helmets. It had a red velvet shield with silver/lead threaded boarder and embroidered sliver/lead lily in the center. It had a silver plum holder for plums. It was from the 1880's and part of the Knights of Pythias Uniform Rank uniforms. The plum for the base rank would have been red. I had a metal helmet with a metal visor that sat on the brim and the helmet had a brass spike. This was also Knights of Pythias and was part of the degree work costumes. Last I had a rare Grand Chancellor's helmet in my custody, which I had charge of donating to our local museum. It was also Knights of Pythias and the Grand chancellor was head of the Grand Lodge over all of the local lodges in our state. The helmet was black felt in the same shape as a British Bobby helmet. On the front it hat a metal shield that was in the design designated for the Grand Lodge officers. It originally would have had a cord that was long lost, going around the front where the brim meets the body. The top was unique in that it had a solid board the raised up about an inch starting from the top front and going to the back brim, tapering as it went along the back of the helmet. This was to hold a plume that would have sat on it billowing in the front and sweeping to the back brim of the helmet. These were wonderful helmets and I enjoyed having them, but lack of space made it necessary to get rid of them. Other than the one I donated due to it originally belonging to a former judge in my city from the 1880's, the other helmets I gave away to friends who I knew would enjoy them.
