Your old apartment reminds me of the famous Christmas movie we’re the guy is drunk and thinks he is going to his house and the door opens because in Russia the same key would open many doors and the woman come home to find him. A classic. Different city same street name, same apartment and the key works. Very Russian. In New York it is spring. Congratulations on your new adventures. You deserve happiness and your mom too and friends.

I've watched "The Irony of Fate" a few times, it's a rather touching and human story. The introduction to the film is an animated depiction of how housing designers focused on building the maximum number of new apartment buildings by eliminating non-essential features and architectural styling, resulting in dozens of virtually-identical-looking new apartment buildings across Soviet cities. The dry humor in that animated introduction is a good segway into the film itself.

It is amazing how similar the apartments are all over what was once the Soviet Union. My wife is from Minsk, Belarus and her apartment is just the same. Bedrooms become bedrooms only at night when the couch is put down and becomes a bed.

@@patriotamerican3069 not really but the standard of buildings from CCCP cannot be comparable to USA especially NY. Most buildings in NY are with wooden floors, low ceilings, paper walls, not sealed windows so the noise is unbearable. Other buildings newer constructions in the USA are not affordable to 90% of population while in RUR most of apartments are owned without mortgage.

Hello Sveltlana, that apartment is so roomy and spacious. I like the storage closets. Here in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, there is a population explosion and apartments similar to that size cost about $3500.00 a month and storage closets are a thing of the past. One has to rent a storage locker. Moreover, if you are not part of the top wage earners, you have to live an unstable shoebox existence.

I just struck a deal with my neighbor, he proposed it and it actually makes sense so I accepted. This involves selling part of my yard to him and cutting my house in half and demolishing that part. It's going to feel weird to never be able to sit in that kitchen, sleep in that bedroom, which my dad's old bedroom that I took over after he passed away, brush my teeth in that bathroom. But that side of the house in particular was in need of heavy repairs : huge wooden deck rotten and falling apart, electricity to be redone in kitchen, bathroom sink working but everything else to be redone, including the floor. I'm lucky that there were 3 independent dwellings in this house : my dad's part of the house, a studio were I used to live (with a complete kitchen and a bathroom with shower), and a 2 bedroom apartment upstairs on half the house, the side I'm keeping. I honestly don't think I would ever found the 100-150K $ necessary to do these repairs some day. I like travelling and am done half the time anyway. It's going to be weird emotionally, since this is my childhood home I've lived here for 47 years. But life is change and stagnant things aren't useful. It would seem crazy to spend $50K to rebuild a deck I'll sit on maybe 5 days in the year. The money will allow me to lower my credit card payments which were too high, get some much needed KZread equipment, invest most of it (75%) for my future, and even take it easier, work a bit less and get back to a more balanced life and be able to make KZread videos (I've been on a year long hiatus and I miss it). So know that you are not alone going through a process of change. Let's move forward together! 💜

If you are in an apartment in Indonesia, you will be greeted by various facilities such as paid parking with entry and exit portals, 24 hours security, elevator, swimming pool, gym, lobby, supermarket, restaurants, laundry services, and so on. If apartments in Indonesia were just like apartments in Russia, many people would not buy the units, because apartments here are not yet an urgent need. So it is necessary to offer facilities that attract people to buy apartment units. Unlike other big cities in Russia, Indonesians even those who live in urban areas are still more likely to choose buying a landed house as their main priority.
