Russian presidents give a speech every year. They always broadcast it right before midnight on December 31st. Search on KZread other New Year´s addresses!

I heard Mr. Presidents voice for the first time😮

He has to be a good speaker because he is ruling the biggest country on our planet. He speaks German fluentlly as well. He used to live in Germany when he worked for KGB.

Kristina...The great quality of your lessons is that you are always working your mission, effectively, from many perspectives. I appreciate that a lot. Slow Russian, books, short stories, vocabulary analysis, you build an excellent curriculum. I have a few suggestions for future lessons. You could use that national anthem heard at the end of this video in the same style as your Slow Russian method. Also, you could break down some of the etymology of certain Russian words and phrases. For instance, I am aware that 'spasiba' (apologies for not having the Russian keyboard available here) is a contraction of 'May God bless' (or something similar to that.) And the word 'horosho' and the word for 'chorus' are related because the Russian culture associates singing together as being a good condition. I am sure that there are other word meanings that have cultural and historical significance to native Russian speakers that beginning learners would find interesting. Thanks again for your diligent and excellent work.

Thanks Louis! I may create a video based on Russian anthem as several other have also requested it. I´m not a big fan of linguistics, so it wouldn´t be easy for me to break down etymology of Russian words and phrases. While I know that many Russian learners are interested in this topic, I don´t feel competent enough to cover it

in Russian speech there is the word "thank" (this is a synonym for "thank you"), comes from the Russian good + to give, gift; presumably, ancient Greek tracing paper. εὐχαριστέω "to thank, to be grateful", εὐχάριστος "grateful"; from εὐ “good; good, good "+ χαρίζομαι" to do what is pleasant, to give. "

Thanks Ján! They used to broadcast the speech at midnight Moscow time for all regions regardless of whether they were ahead or behind in time. But I read that this year they finally adapted the schedule and the speech was broadcasted at midnight local time in every region

No language is difficult to practice when you mingle with those who speak that particular language.I have seen alot of people live in Mahal speaking community within 3 months They speak that foreign language like anything.

It is so noticeable how unifying Russian political rhetoric attempts to be compared to how polarizing American political rhetoric is. For better or for worse, this is something I admire greatly about Russian politics.

This is absolutely wonderful as a Russian language-learning experience. Thank you! But politically, it's another matter. An American politician can get away with a sentence or two about друзья и семья, but there is no way he or she could get away with droning on and on repetitiously for seven minutes of that. 😂
