This may have been the first real superfight in MMA, younger folks might not know or remember the way both these guys destroyed anything that was put in front of them in Pride. The fact they would fight eachother seemed inevitable. And when they did it was a war.

I wonder whether after such fights, he "licked his wounds" when he was at home or alone. Because if you're talking about that suplex, it was brutal and yet he never reacted, so I've been thinking that maybe it did hurt but he refused to show any vulnerability to his opponents.

I once read that Fedor did not want to be a star; he just wanted to compete. It was amazing that someone with his incredible level of success could maintain that humility.

Without a doubt the most intense mma fight ever. 2 gods!

I remember this fight. I was a huge Fedor fan and hated Crocop at the time (I don’t even remember why now). It was the only time in Pride I was legit kinda scared for Fedor. It was such a beautiful match. Even someone with modest experience could see how Fedor was using a great strategy to neutralize the threat from Crocop. This is actually my go-to example fight when trying to explain to someone new how much intelligent strategy really can play into fighting.

Mirko always reminds me to some sort of ill minded Ustaša soldier, I hated him big time. But realised after he got destroyed by Fedor an many others he was only gritty avid sportsmen unfortunately tied to Croatian special police forces. I'm Serb and ustaša means to me horrific bloodthirsty bastards who primarily existing function is to kill innocent people of my ethnicity 😅

It's strange for him to say that, considering what he said in an interview as I remember it, which was something along the lines of 'I don't feel any pain when I step into the ring'. Maybe he was just trying to make CC feel better, or another way of him praising CC's abilities, but I could be wrong, it's just that it doesn't make any sense when considering Fedor's comment.
