The Izmaylovsky Regiment was one of the oldest regiments of the Russian army, a subdivision of the 1st Guards Infantry Division of the Imperial Russian Guard. It was formed in Moscow on 22 September 1730 as Empress Anna's personal life guards, named after the Romanov ancestral estate of Izmaylovo.

This is still used in the cavalry part of the guard changing ceremony in the kremlin, alongside with the preobrazhensky march.

Марш Лейб-Гвардии Измайловского полка впервые опубликован под № 32 в собрании «Сборник военных маршей всех полков Гвардии», составленном Антоном Дерфельдом-старшим и отпечатанном в издательстве Дальмаса в Санкт-Петербурге в 1815 году. Также к ранним изданиям партитуры этого марша можно отнести его публикацию под № 16 (Marsch des Leib-Garde Izmailowski Regiments) в прусском каталоге маршей - Koniglich-Preussische Armeemarschsammlung, учрежденном декретом короля Фридриха-Вильгельма III в 1817 году, и взявшем за основу сборник Дерфельда. Авторство марша не установлено!!
