If you're referring to how brief and simplistic this video is, then yes. But otherwise no, as this goes both ways. The video actually forgets that the first foreigners successfully conquering Moscow were the Polish in 1612. 200 years before Napoleon. They arguably came the closest of all except the Mongols to destroy Russia. The Polish and Lithuanians used the open terrain just as devastatingly as the Mongols did, and just like them had a profound impact on Russian culture and thinking.

The main geographic challenge that Russia faces is it's access to the world's oceans. Or rather lack of it. Russia may have a huge coastline in the north, but it's frozen over most of the time, and therefore is unreliable. Russia has a coastline along the Pacific Ocean, but it freezes over in the winter too. Russia has 2 coastlines along the Baltic Sea. 1 is St Petersburg, but it freezes in the winter as well. 2 in Kaliningrad, which thankfully does not freeze over. However, the Baltic Sea is connected to the ocean by the narrow Danish straits, and Denmark is part of NATO, and we all know how stable NATO and Russia's relationship is. Finally, there is the Black Sea. It does not freeze over in the winter, but then again, it is only connected to the Mediterranean (and therefore the oceans) by the Turkish straits, and Turkey is again a NATO member.

The only reason why the commonwealth died off is because the country had internal disputes. They gave too much power to the nobility and not enough centralized power to the king and couldn't agree on shit, but Poland once was the strongest state in Europe by military strength. Also, it is pretty hard trying to fight off a partition between 3 major powers (Russia, Prussia, Austria-Hungary), it almost impossible that they could have fought them off or any nation if they were surrounded and ganged up on by those enemies.

austria wasn't austo-hungry at the time , austro hungry was created around 1870, poland wasn't the strongest power in europa russia had 4 times stronger army than we did and only winning we did back them was thanks to our militry leaders who were unmached, not even mentioning spain or ottoman empire both of them were stronger i don't know about sweden but we were at same level +/-

  • @mefisto654

They were stronger, because our internal chaos and complete lack of solidar organisation. However many situations in frustrating silver age show as undaubted huge potential in our moblisation abillities. While we were not the greatest power at all because our policies - high nobles and damned Waza kings - we can surely say that in the field we could be the greatest. Imaging reasonable policy istead of this nobility chaos - we could achieve unetched peaks. So many Poles fallen in love to this silver age myth of power are mistaken and say about being the strongest country in Europe... but if we say about strenght in the field - yes, we can say we were indeed.(only if we seperate OTHER THINGS from it - like... we might have won battle with enourmous score - but we hadn't used its outcome afterwards) Super Waldek It depends what period you have on your mind. I wouldn't put 18th century in dispute here, couse Tadeusz Godlewski didn't mean that. If we speak about 17 and 16th century then, what you say is not true. 1 vs 1 we were even, if not better. The same with Ottoman Empire. And that's proven.

@PrimeConsciousness Trade is a very important tool in the geopolitical kit. Aside from the general economic benefit of commerce, the hope is that once trade takes root, then political forces within a government act to protect their financial advantage derived from it. A notable failure (though admittedly pre-nuke) was the Molotov-Ribbentrop trade pact. Russian trains laden with coal and ore were still steaming into German occupied Poland at the start of Barbarossa.

@PrimeConsciousness Mutually assured destruction, and asymmetrical warfare still trump the nuke. This is why since the end of WWII you have nuclear armed powers continuing to prosecute conflicts by conventional war, proxy war, and guerrilla war - hence infantry, tanks, artillery, ships, and jets. Example: perhaps some in Russia would nuke Chechnya, but then it would be an even worse territory to keep within their borders, which is their goal after all. Not to mention international sanction.

Russia's terrain to the west has been harsh to it would be aggressors, but it has equally kept it largely insular and kept away from the western world in it and it's movings. naturally some paranoia crept in some of it justified I suppose but, mostly of its own doings and of a society largely kept to its own narcicsms and personalities. It's a perfect example of how history and proximies create one world, and in the case of Russia and the west especially in this current situation and that of the past few decades, in fact half a century become their stumbling block.

Terrain to its west has been harsh to its aggressors only in winter, How merciful of you, internet unknown to be so considerate and deem some of russias concerns as "justifable i suppose". It must be comforable to be in the U.S after massacring an entire continent of indian americans now you have secure borders between two oceans with virtually no opposition. Talk about narcissism

Is this meaningless in the modern age? When weapons travel by themselves? What's scary though is when those Poles including the leader tried to escape to someplace safe? (Russia) and crashed. Is there a coming time when only people as free and truly willing to speak their minds as Russians will be safe and have a chance? Even still eventually you'll need to develop permanent biological advantages concurrently. I think "babylon" rewards group after special interest group, as it goes after key remaining one worlders, who understand power and care about the unified cause of all people and others. It wants the god sparks, not to use as their evil in creation forever, but to torture. Everyone else is being used to disapprove and use up their own remaining free interest.

i'm living in germany and it is not a topic, at all. patenting doesn't play a big role, if a successful demonstration was believably documentated. a lot of things were invented without patenting them, like radio by aleksander popov or using punchcard for information storage by korsakov 1832. mendeleev's periodic table of elements wasn't patented, a very important decimal currency system, 1st introduced in russia wasn't, of course, patented, too. etc. tell me, what is in your opinion not russian.

Here’s the thing about Russia though, they may not have great physical natural defenses, but they have one major trump-card... The Russian Winter. Once you push deep into Russia from the west, you better have beaten them by the start of winter or you’re royally fucked.

The French (together with the Poles; Polish Legions) took an abandoned and empty Moscow. There was nobody to conquer.
