Russell Simmons: Full Interview

Ойын-сауық

Russell Simmons reminisces on his career, highlighting his decision to drop out of college, the experience of working alongside Rick Rubin, and how Def Comedy Jam bolstered the Def Jam brand. Plus, in our sit-down interview at his home in Bali, Simmons breaks his silence on sexual assault allegations made against him, acknowledging past insensitivity but denying ever partaking in violent or non-consenting behaviors. I wouldn't say angry, but definitely thrown off by the references Graham was making to certain parts of his early life. Also, Graham didn't transition very well, he would abruptly go to the next subject. All in all, it wasn't a great interview by either one lol

    He's actually going for the old "rape is a violent crime and jumping out of the bushes is different" than date rape. We all know now that most rape occurs in a situation of trust with people who already know each other. Not classic "stranger rape.". Also "we all need to learn to listen" = I didn't listen to women when they told me "no, stop, I don't want it"

    I honestly think that there is a plot to tarnish the legacies of our great moguls, as a continuation of the cointelprogram. We dont have the political groups that we used to, so now most of us look up to our entrepreneurs. And they are more influential (arguably) than Malcolm and Martin. Yes, i do think they did some of the things they're accused of. But i dont think it was nonconsentual.

    Yes, in some cases (I believe Russell did multiple polygraph tests regarding the accusations at his daughters insistence, and passed them all). In other cases, like R.Kelly, Diddy & Bill Cosby... unfortunately their behaviors caused what happened/is happening to their legacies. The evidence against those 3 is overwhelming. Russell was likely a play boy and did the behaviors that were acceptable during his time. Rape has NEVER been socially accepted. I believe he is innocent, until evidence proves otherwise. It's unfortunate that he now has effectively had to excited himself -regardless of how beautiful Bali may be, just to have his freedom. He can't be an active father as his daughters navigate early adulthood. Couldn't attend the graduations of his daughters, one of which graduated at just 20 from Harvard. That is sad. IF he is guilty of raping even one woman, then he deserves that and to be under the jail. However, if he did not committ those crimes it's very unfair imo. Michael Jackson, Mike Tyson & Tupac experienced the same unfair treatment despite all the evidence proving they did not commit those crimes of sexual assault. Both MJ's accuser and Tupac's have admitted publicly years later that they weren't molested by them. MJ's (Jordan Chandler) confessed after Michael's death. Blamed his father and even emancipated himself as a teen. The father then killed himself. Tupac's accuser admitted on camera that pac never raped her. His boys gang raped her and she was upset he didn't "stop it from happening" (despite not being in the room). Mike Tyson's accuser had a history of accusing people of rape (including her high school boyfriend who went on t.v and explained she cried rape when her father walked in on them...).

  • @Just-Princess

    @Just-Princess

    2 күн бұрын

    I can't speak for all women, but as someone who was molested by multiple people as a child, including one woman (non celebrities full disclosure). I disclosed one at age 14 kind of accidently which caused an entire police investigation, intimate examinations of my genitals, interrogations... only for the police to say we believe you, there are signs of sexual trauma to your genitals that wouldn't be there on a young 14 year old without forceable violent penetration, but the perp has claimed he is diabetic and has erectile dysfunction as a result. So because we didn't examine you immediately after the last rape (which had occurred a year prior we don't have enough dna evidence to prosecute the case. The ordeal was traumatic to say the least and caused me to attempt suicide at 14 (I almost died and stayed in hospital for 6 weeks ...then was transferred to an inpatient psychiatric hospital for teens with 'issues' for a year. That turned my world upside down and I felt like it was a punishment for telling an adult I had been having sex ('consentual' and not with a man in his 60's who was my foster father from the age of 12). She told the police, not me (as should as a responsible adult). But my teenaged brain didn't understand and I vowed I'd never speak about any of the others. Only in my late 20's (which was just 3 years ago) I began to share the full extent of the rape and sexual abuse I experienced with 2 friends and a therapist as it somehow felt safe (finally). Sexual trauma like that can scare you into silence for many years or a lifetime, until you feel safe enough to share and be believed...
