The other reason for him to put his port forward is to connect the cities. If he put it back over the fish, they wouldn’t connect, since the ports have to be within 5 tiles of each other

The biggest challenge for me in this new update isnt about the strategy of the new naval units, but the arrangements of buildings so that my markets can get the most of it. Unlike the old update where you can just focus to build it near a port. It is very tricky esp if a tile is both good place for market and a production building at the same time.

True. But for my opinion, markets havent that huge impact in the games as the ports did before. Playing and trying is the way to learn and to get it more intentionally :)

Most people just aren't building markets at all. They simply aren't worth it in most situations

Markets are a very late game building. You need a couple tier three techs before you can use them. Most games end before players get that far

I think a mistake he made at 12:15 was to not put his raft on the ruin. The 2 scouts couldn’t kill it with the defense bonus

Good point. He could have landed that raft unit on the mountain with the ruins

another mistake at 9:53 was buying the fruit. He could’ve gotten the upgrade by stepping on the mountain, which he did anyway

Right. He could have moved his warrior onto the mountain to get vision of the lighthouse. That would have provided one population to the capital

The issue here is not that moving rafts outside of your borders is bad, it's that he sat them on a couple of stars right away. If he'd immediately moved rafts from the north city to the north western continent he could've expanded very quickly. The rafts could have gotten over there much faster than warriors on land. Moving early rafts out is the naval equivalent to fast rider expansion. If they get caught they die easily, however, if you claim a few quick cities you can often overwhelm your opponent with economy. In fact if you want to expand fast then you don't want to upgrade the first raft into a scout. It'll likely need to very quickly move onto a city and waste the 5 stars you spent upgrading it. 2-3 rafts with one scout asap is probably your best bet for expansion. It was also an insane advantage to pick up strategy from a ruin allowing for 15hp ships right away.

Yes. Vorce could have sent the raft the to the other continent in the west. He could have gotten the village or the mountain ruin pretty early And, yes, the ruins were lucky for JoyD and not so lucky for Vorce. That's the way Polytopioa goes sometimes

What if you could choose the general direction of your explorer? I get so many terrible explorers...

Yup. You can kind of shape where an explorer goes by clearing out fog, but once the explorer finds fog, it can go anywhere

He went on the star before getting navigation 💀 he didn’t even make enough per term to get that star the turn after 😭

Yeah, not a great play from VorceCraw. He made quite a lot of mistakes in that game hence the loss.

if i played that game online, i would assume Vorce is a noob. but you say hes not.....mmkay

No, he's not. Different dynamics with the update. You have to change your mindset and the old ways completely.

Not surprised u say so. I was still learning and trying new things with the new update and I played first turns very badly. I honestly barely can watch this video when I see my poor performance.
