I didn't get to see Rush until the 2007 Snakes & Arrows tour. Six shows later, I'm still reeling in the fact I'll never get to see them again. I'm so thankful for the lasting memories of watching the masters at play with my best friends. There'll never be another band like Rush.

Vital Signs with the Rickenbacker!!!! YES!!!!
Wow, I gotta tell ya, those guys ‘back in the day’, as they say. Geddy’s voice was so fluid and free - and that bass! Neil’s drumming was so precise and impactful, and Alex, playing flawlessly, even better than the studio version. I cannot WAIT to hear the rest of this show. What a gift!

Don't they sound like there's a lot more than three performers?? I had the awesome privilege to see them live September 20, 1982, during their All The World's a Stage tour; and yes, they rocked 2112 that night, as well as this, Tom Sawyer, etc., in Casper, Wyoming! Had a VERY interesting experience on the way home of the Twilight Zone variety......wanna hear about it?

Who are "all these people" that disagree with this? LOL. It is so obvious to me - always has been that way.
Vital Signs is yet another testament to Neil's ferocious pursuit always to accuracy, details, and 100% explosive rock strong power. Remember that 1981 was the height of electronic robot drone drum machines to appreciate this live effort repeated throughout entire tours night after night. Love his books and plethora of lyrics, but his drumming was the power plant of Rush in the unique pantheon of drummers who command attention in concert by playing so damn well commanding high standards of play. And yes, you would hear Neil's drumming from the first 25 front rows far louder directly than over the loudspeakers....So incredibly epic to experience!
Love that Lerxst tone! The bass pops so well in the bridge too. This song really builds up beautifully towards the end. ✊🫡
Saw this tour in either Fort Wayne or Toledo, might have been my first of twelve Rush concerts. I wish my memory was better but damn this is 41 fucking years ago now. I just turned 60.
There was no other band tighter then these three. ❤ The echoes of there music will resonate for centuries.

Ged's voice was so beautiful during this period. It's really what pulled me in to Rush in the first place. And they stuck with the Moving Pictures sound during that tour. Vital Signs has ALWAYS BEEN my favorite song! As a 15 year old, listening to Moving Pictures for the first time... VITAL SIGNS spoke to me. Yes, I have been deviating from the NORM ever since!!!!
in 1989, at the peak of the bay area thrash explosion, when I was more or less convinced that was the only music worth listening to, I got my hands on a live album from a band I had not cared for much until then: Rush, Show of hands. Not only was it love at first listen, it was the best live recording I had ever heard and outclassed my favorites at that time, Priest's Unleashed in the east and Tokyo Tapes from the Scorpions. And together with those it opened the door to the world of 70's bands for me. I wish Rush had visited Europe more often. There were not many opportunities to see them on stage here.
I am not sure how these guys managed to perform so extremely close to the studio versions - every single night. I've got wild amounts of respect for the work they put down.
I will never not feel sad that I never had the chance to see Rush live and in person. Too late did I realize that this band was so much more than just a few radio hits.
Still as good today as it ever was. I love the anniversary editions, reliving the excitement of getting the original album but now with extra material to enjoy too. Time has flown by so quickly.
Debuted in my weekly personal music charts on March 20, 2022 edition :)

Awesome! I wish I had been old enough during this time to see some of these early to mid 80s tours. I think this was the peak of Geddy's vocals. He could still do all the old material but his melodies really improved so much during this time with these 80's albums.
Wow! Fantastic remix! I saw Rush in San Diego in 1981 during this tour. It was my first time seeing them live. A concert that still plays in my mind. They were on fire!! All 3 aspects of this band. RIP Professor....
Sounds very heavily inspired by The Police with the reggae guitar and somewhat-reggae drum beat. But I love how they take it and make it their own, giving it a computerized sound! Lee, Lifeson, and Peart were in a class by themselves above all others. Long live the Kings!

Agreed. You can hear the Police influence on select tracks on their next two studio albums as well (Digital Man, New World Man, The Enemy Within).
ESL, as a bassist of 30 years is their best sounding record.....Geddy's tone is flawless. (IMO)
Ahhhh my boys!!! Our three Canadian Masters!!! My life would not be the same without you all.... I grew up at Danforth and Pape Ave!!!! Cheers 🍻
I was 15 - just getting my fingers around guitar and this is the song that really pulled me into playing bass, especially the solo. First time I heard it, I kept picking the needle up an dropping it back on the record. First I picked it out on guitar, then on a friend's bass since I didn't own one yet. I still love playing this song on bass.
For a while back in the day, this was my fave tune from Moving Pictures. I loved the studio video. This is a great recording, so true to the album version.
This rivals the "Experience to Extremes" version of Vital Signs for me!
I really prefer the sound of these earlier live shows--guitar and bass tones especially--compared to how they sounded from the late 1990s on. In the name of sounding heavier they wound up sounding overly distorted and sludgy.
Went right to my Playlist 👍
