Rush "Time Stand Still" : Drums!!
Музыка
Here's a song I had not played in a long , long time. My wife (a bassist) convinced me to learn it again... ;) It's a fun song! Not perfect since I only practiced it a few times before making this take. The little Roland pad is used as a clave in this one, and my little piccolo snare serves as a timbale. Enjoy!

@@Astrotama seriously impressive.
Dude, you deserve much better than Good Job, that was fucking awesome. Yeah, an expletive is indeed appropriate here. Now, I agree its not Rushs hardest tune, but it does require pro level independence and odd meter abilities. Have a beer or bud on me brah, this kicked ass. I look forward to seeing the others.

It's the subtleties in his playing, ghost notes, odd meters that make even the simplest of rush songs difficult.
why is your drum kit not floating around?

@Vancouver Island Railfan i can tell by the fluidity of his movements compared to peart that he is not, especially during the fast ride cymbal part during the chorus, way stiffer, no ghost notes, omitted kicks, i can just feel the lack of fluidity and grooviness compared to when Neil performed this song during his 1992 drum clinic which is also on youtube and that's just this song. i doubt he would even come close to being able to do what Neil does during his drum solos, improvising, and performing the wide array of skills Neil has on the drums

@@shallex5744 Peart is rarified air. I’m not aware of anyone on his level, to be fair. You can name the top 10 drummers of all time. Peart can do anything that any of them can. None of them can do what Peart did....

You need to unlock Neil peart level in order to get the kit float across the room
You would be my first choice to stand in for Neil, when Alex and Geddy decide to move forward. You got the timing and his chops!!

Thats somthing special :). The love of music bringing two people together is a Beautiful thing.
RUSH is some of most complicated rock music dude you nailed it..rock on
I totally agree with BeaglePower G!! Time Stand Still is known as one of Rush's "simple balads" however I think it's one of the most challenging drum parts they ever wrote!!! The off beats... the feathering of the hi-hat to bridge those off beat gaps... took me YEARS to master that lol ... the tempo and time signature changes... this tune totally rocks and may I say Sir that you did an amazing job!!!! I've only recently come across your work here on KZread and I'm a true and forever fan!!!!! I had your EXACT drum kit back in the day ... minus a few of the electronic cow bells ect but EXACTLY the same kit.. only red like on the Signals tour. Again contrats on some amazing work and I'm surprised your still married knowing the time and commitment it takes to drum at this level lol :P

Me too. The lyrics are haunting to me considering I'm now 61 and my life seems to have flown by in a blur, and it was only a few days ago that I was bouncing my little tots on my knees. Now I've got grandkids sitting in my lap and I'm trying to treasure every single moment of life I have left.
