Rush "Subdivisions": New!!! Drums!!!
Музыка
I've got many requests to redo some of the old videos in HD... To celebrate also the milestone of reaching a total of 1 million hits, I've made 3 videos tonight of some of these Rush classics. This is the first one! Enjoy!

Even though this was nearly 10 years ago, it remains one of the best drumming videos ever on KZread. Especially after we have just lost Neil , big thumbs up to Astrotama,

Excellent . One must be real good if one wants to cover Rush on youtube ,don't want to embarrass oneself now! Three thumbs up ,way up.

I can’t believe the world lost Neil. Through his music he will be with us forever.
I have watched this at least 100 times and every time I do so I tear up in awe. Truly amazing!
Aug 1982- my 14th bday. I got my first “boom-box” radio. That fall I started hearing some cool new stuff from a Canadian band called Rush on the radio. That X-mas the FIRST thing on my list was Signals. I got the Signals cassette and my life changed. So many people don’t “get it” and that can’t be helped but we still “get it.” I was only able to see them live 6 times, but every time, I eagerly awaited seeing Mr Peart play Subdivisions. You sir do not disappoint. Flawless. Those crossover back-handed notes are not easy. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Three cheers to Astrorama, Neil Peart has been one of my inspirations for the past 40 yrs..thank you for your astounding skills!!!

This is the best cover of subdivisions on KZread. From 4:50 onward is nothing short of amazing.
TIGHT!! I've seen so many people hack this song with ghastly off-timed overfills in an attempt to replicate Neil's masterful technique. You were right on and smooth as hell. It looked effortless. Your kick is also amazing and right on target. Very impressive!

I am absolutely shocked. My mother taught High school piano at the Peabody Institute of Music in Baltimore. Normally all I do is watch for mistakes until I trust the musician enough to sit back and enjoy. That happened almost immediately and I forgot to look for mistakes. Well done kiddo

I just know Neil Peart was watching this video and said, ...dang.
Absolutely spot on. Can't get closer to Peart playing other than Peart himself. What really makes it special is the feeling you put into it, like you own it. Fantastic

BRAVO!!.... You have studied Neil Peart well Grasshoppa! As a Drummer myself many years back, i'm most impressed with the Cymbals you chose, Zildjian?....Nice tonal quality and spot on sound Nice drum kit, you have a good ear for tuning....Tama makes a very solid kit
@Astrotama
9 жыл бұрын
Tony Aviles Thank you! No, all the cymbals are Sabian Paragon. They came all together as a limited-edition set made by Sabian in 2006. I still own many Zildjian and Paiste cymbals too. Tuning: I spend quite a bit of time experimenting there and change tuning to try to match the original sound on the Rush songs. Not always possible of course, but I try. I always tune for each session I play, although the Starclassic keep their tuning very well.

Umm...yeah...that was very impressive. As a drummer who sees millions of drum covers on KZread, I always look for missed hits and tempo loss. You nailed this WHOLE song! The hi hat to ride crossover part is way more difficult than most people could understand. Don't ever stop!

Great Job man, I enjoyed your cover! This songs, great and I decided to do a cover of it as well. Neil's parts are really challenging and his writing is one of the key elements that make Rush, Rush.
The best service you did was to allow us to see what went on up close and personal with Neil when he played. I saw Rush 5 times and each time I remain riveted on his drum set and his performance. It's impressive that people have come to your channel to honor him.

Hey, no offense taken. I know I'm not small and some people cannot resist saying it. It's no big deal really (and many do not know how much workout I actually do so I can keep playing these songs. Some of these videos were made after hours of non-stop playing. Stamina is the key.). Cymbals: All of them are Sabian Paragons. They were part of a special limited edition set sold by Sabian in 2006 to celebrate 30 years of 2112. They only made 30 of those worldwide and I got one. You can buy similar sets now except that they do not come with two 10" splashes (and a DVD signed by Neil ;)). I love those cymbals. ;)
