Rush’s code and wizard modes completely destroy Maiden’s wizard modes based upon ingenuity, creativeness and uniqueness. Be my guest though to keep believing Maiden is superior. 😂

    Rush Premium is still hanging out at #1 for me after a year of owning it. It’s mostly due to the excellent code and layout, even though I’m a Rush fan and I enjoy all the music in the game too. I can’t argue too much with your take on the caricatures in the middle of the playfield, but it’s certainly not the debacle that AC/DC Pro was. I didn’t give it much thought until I had FF sitting next to it; Zombie Yeti’s work here is clearly better. I think this game will age well, like TWD did. Rush is Borg’s best so far.

    I’ve have a GnR 1994 by Data East that I inherited from my Old Man back in 2016. I always enjoyed playing it but never took it too seriously. Then, my wife and I challenged each other for high scores on it. After that, we downloaded Pinball FX for the Switch. Now, we’re both becoming quickly obsessed with pinball as a whole. I hope this isn’t just another rabbit hole obsession that only sparks my interest for a few months and leaves my bank account drained.

    Appreciate and enjoyed your review guys! Rush has been my favorite band since high school in the mid/late 1980s. I've been a huge pinball fan for many years as well (1st pin purchased was Black Knight 2000 in 1998). Theme is extremely important to me when it comes to pinball. As a result, many of the "popular" games today don't mean much to me because the theme doesn't mean much to me (e.g. Deadpool, Stranger Things, etc). Love or hate the music, Rush is AMAZING - arguably the most talented group of 3 musicians ever assembled. There's the conundrum. I was actually concerned when I heard Stern was making a Rush pin. Mostly because I don't like the new pins as well (I love WPC95 and System 11 games the best) and most of what I see is people complaining about the poor build quality and reliability of Sterns and other new pins. If my favorite band was going to be a pin, I wanted it to be as awesome as the band. I even posted as much on the Stern Enthusiasts Facebook page when the game was announced. I purchased a NIB Rush premium in Oct 2022 and have to say I think it's one of the best new Sterns out there. Yes, I'm biased because I love the theme, but I also think it's a great game. The code is really good - not half-baked like many others that have been released (e.g. Bond). The shots are great, too. It's a great game for seasoned players and beginners. As my first new Stern, I can confirm they just don't make 'em like they used to as I've had a few minor, but annoying issues I wouldn't expect on a brand new pin. My 30-40 year old System 11 and WPC 95 games require less maintenance and adjustments than this one that is scarcely 18 months old. Overall, I think that Rush is a very solid pin that will age very well.

    Journey pinball machine, Yes, I would probably buy if they nailed it, back in 2015 they technically did a re-theme of the classic Bally pinball machine Elektra that they turned into a Journey Pinball? I wonder why Journey never went to the next level as I believe this would gain a lot of attention. The thing that separates them for ME is that one has a lifetime of music I’ve loved and the other is based on a comic book I’ve never been into. Sadly with the movies of the same theme being complete garbage, it’s all I can attach it to and so the theme brings it down a notch. I do agree however, AIQ is one badass game that I have a good time on every single time I play it

    People who buy this pinball (like me) understand a lot more about why they made a lot of decisions on the subjective categories of your review (like art / rules / theme). If you are not a Rush fan, you simply wont understand even half the goofy call outs that the game has. If you dont understand the lyrics (and meaning which are unusually deep for rock music) of many of the songs then you wont get a lot of the general content of the pinball. If you have never been to a Rush concert, then you wont understand the toys and themes. I think this is why your review is really off the mark all around on these subjective topics, especially since Rush fans will actually see where you are missing it in this review. This pinball was designed to PERFECTLY (amazingly so) trigger Rush fans. I think the best you 2 can do is simply decide whether you just like playing the game, but thats also subjective. This review is a serious miss for you (I would simply say that you just dont get Rush). the best example is "well we wont be going to a Rush concert"... Rush as a band is over since the drummer Neal Peart died of brain cancer ~5 years ago. There wont be another concert. BUT... I like most your pinball reviews and will continue watching.

  • @balxen

    @balxen

    It’s not surprising in the least that Stern decided on this theme, because they like to make money! And also about production… I know it’s not in production now, and it’s not currently scheduled for production for the rest of this year….but that doesn’t mean they won’t make any more units! They’re making Iron Maiden now, and that came out 5-6 years ago and had been largely dormant production wise for the last few years.. Once the orders pile up they’ll make more. Might not be until next year sometime, but they’ll fire it up again.

    @@SDTM Rush was and probably still is one of the most popular rock bands in the history of rock n' roll with a cult following still today. This pinball was designed and engineered perfectly for that player base. Its a niche project for them and dam, they smacked it out of the park. Im GenX and I've been listening and loving every rock band since 1980. Def Leppard is a close 2nd to Rush for me (ive seen them both in concert more then 10 times), but Leppard sings about pouring sugar on people. Rush Lyric are poetic with really deep meaning and thats the difference between Rush and mainstream rock (well besides the fact that the 3 of them are instrumental maestro's). This fact is perfectly woven into this pinball and I would guess that most people who bought this pinball are Rush fans first over pinball (I just happen to be both for over 40 years). As and example, I can honesty say I have time on every Stern pinball made and Rush as a fun pinball to me is only behind Godzilla... the other half of the Stern pinballs made over the past 10 years are just about unplayable compared to the pinballs in the 80's. I guess the point Im trying to make is that this pinball is a whole hell of a lot deeper then you may realize, in fact, amazingly so. But, I cant fault you since you aren't a Rush fan, you just dont know.

    Team Greg all the way! I get it Zach, Rush is not for everyone and it’s usually either you love them, or you hate them. I became a fan in 1980 and have been a diehard ever since. 1980 is also the year I became a musician and it was because of Rush I decided to take the drums and synth seriously. Something I haven’t read yet is that a huge reason why Rush has such a big fan base is that they are different and over the top incredible in every detail of their music while being the musicians band. Geddys voice is usually what turns some people off and I get that, but also consider he is playing the bass, singing, and killing the synth and foot synths(INSANE). Rush is for musicians, they have inspired so many of the bands that people will argue are better than Rush and then you hear an interview from that other group and they all say Rush was THEIR favorite band. Always giving their love, thanks and praise to the three guys from Canada for inspiring them. Their uniqueness and talent can never be overstated. Neil changed rock drumming forever and no band EVER had more air drummers in attendance. Alex is widely considered one of the best and most tasteful guitarists of all time, Geddy is CLEARLY one of the best and most influential bassist this planet has ever seen and his synth work and song writing is simply phenomenal and second to none. These guys are who other bands look up to and will always thank for pushing them to the next level, I know I do. This is why so many get very animated when others attack them, they are VERY special to us and to see a pinball machine made for them was really something to celebrate. I’ve been playing pinball as long as I have been playing the drums and THIS title was the first time I felt a game was made for me. Love AFM, love Godzilla, love JP, and so many others but Rush is a theme where the topic speaks to me personally and I know I’m not alone. So yeah, they are not for everyone and not everyone is a musician but those of us lucky enough to get what they are about, we give a special thanks to Stern and Borg for this game. My LE is cemented to the floor! Rock on!
