This is the first Rush song I could sing along to without completely embarrassing myself. Amazing performance Sterling. You’re in that 1% of drummers that truly understands the music. Thanks.

Originally wrote for producer Robbie Whelan, this song now takes on a new meaning with Neil’s passing. Still love this song, even though it’s one of Peart’s sadder compositions. Great Job Sterling, as always! Some Peart drum parts can sound easy but can be really hard to nail.

Watching this for the 50th time I’m still impressed man. Spot on. Such a heavy song to write and then put this drumming masterpiece on top of it. Great job

It's been awhile since I've watched you. Great job, this is my favorite song of the Synth period. I do love this period, it may not be as hard, but the intricacies all three did is sometimes overlooked. For Neil his precision became top notch allowing space and simpler yet so complex rhythym structures. Restrained and perfect timing. The Stuart Copeland influence shows but add a calculus equation in Pearts approach

Another of my fav’s! Saw this live in ’84, at my 1st Rush show in MTL, and was hooked for life. Effortless performance; and spot in. Bravo Sterling !

I appreciate these videos for a lot reasons. For instance catching a small cymbal pattern I've never realized. At 1:50 I always thought Neil was playing 8ths on the alternating ride China pattern. But it's actually two 16ths on the ride before the 8th on the China. You learn something new everyday.

Hey bro I love the way you play the drums to all the rush songs it reminds me of when i.used to play along the way you do . But just to let you know that China symbol you need a better sounding one other than that your an awesome drummer. Keep up the good playing.

@@danielcastaneda7801 it is so interesting you ask. I remember this statement that was made during an interview he gave around 1985-86 for Power Windows. A girlfriend at the time [high school] recorded the interview and she gave it to me...on cassette. So, I remember it being about a close friend and how he [Neil] worked through his grief.

@@danielcastaneda7801 Montreal Gazette, May 6, 1983 Le Studio in Morin Heights lost one of its valued members this week when Robbie Whelan was killed in a car accident on his way to work. Whelan, 31, had been an assistant recording engineer at Le Studio, Canada's flagship, big-name recording facility, for five years and was working on a new album with the rock group Asia at time of his death. He leaves his wife Carla. "He will be much missed here" Le Studio manager Yael Brandeis said, adding that Whelan had been close to many of the artists who have recorded at Le Studio over the years, especially Rush and April Wine. Whelan also worked on albums with the Police, Robert Charlebois, Bryan Adams, Rainbow and Fist, among others. His funeral will be held at Trinity Anglican Church in Morin Heights tomorrow at 2 p.m.

I'm a non-drummer, but some of Neil's parts to me look like they would be horribly awkward to play and even more difficult to play smoothly.
