Ru Paul has been saying this since the 70's.. if you look back at those old videos that nelson shot of them in new york city in the 80's she was saying it then. She even said it on the Geraldo show when she was a club kid in 1990..
RuPaul received a well deserved huge ‘ welcome back’ ovation and I loved what Whoopi said about his contribution to culture ❤️

I met Rupaul once, back around 1994, after Supermodel but before his VH-1 talk show. It was at a bar in South Beach, I was a young 20 something gay twink with my little entourage without a care in the world. We were a little star struck over Ru, but Ru made a big fuss over our group of young gays and made us feel like he saw us and we were something. He was so incredibly gracious to us, I’ll never forget it. Will always be a huge fan. ☮️❤️🌈
A comment Rupaul made on his podcast many years ago has always stayed with me: "When you become the architect of your own experience on this planet, that's when the party really begins." Love Rupaul and the fabulous queens - they bring joy, light, love and laughter

Ru is "on" so much of the time, it's VERY rare he ever gets TRULY emotional, unexaggerated/not for the cameras. But you can see Whoopi's accolade really touched him. Muthas supporting Muthas. Werk.

What I love is that I’m a curvy hourglass cis woman who developed early and was bullied out of my ownership of my own body, totally afraid of my brickhouse figure that was *not* acceptable in the 90s. and like RPDR opened the door to your closet and invited you out into living in your light, I swear it’s given me Woman Lessons. It somehow gave me permission to own my sensuality and my physical form. Where I’ve seen my curves as slutty, now I see them as fishy 💃 not every day but when I’m feeling low I know where to look for a slap back into reality. Cheers and blessings, stranger 🔥 Hope you’re having fun out there, and by the way you’re effing gorgeous!

This is a wonderful interview! All the hosts knew exactly who they were sitting with and what to ask, and to revere this person and moment. RuPaul laid out beautiful vulnerability and learned wisdom in a way only he could. I just started diving into his book and it’s been more than I expected. I hope we all listen and work to not only understand but live by his lessons. We’d all be better as a whole.
Love him! I love Whoopi and Joy too! What an uplifting interview. Thank You ❤
He is so kind, he is so well spoken x
I remembered the first time I saw RuPual on tv. I was probably about 7 or 8 years old. It was 1993. RuPaul' s music video "Work" was on Mtv. My 1st impression was, "Wow, that's a really tall lady!" 😆 I didn't know RuPual is a man the whole time. Or did I even know the term "drag queen." All I know is that my 7 years old self was captivated by his presence. And still do 31 years later. RuPaul made me proud of who I am as a Black and unapologetic gay man! 🏳️🌈✊🏿
