Listening to this wonderful song, and seeing and hearing Bruce singing the words brings me to tears. It is so sad that he has died on September 5th, at such a young age. May he rest in peace, knowing he brought a lot of joy to thousands of folk. Thank you Bruce.

I am not sure how many folk listening to this beautiful song will know the background to it, and its meaning. An American astronaut on the Columbia space shuttle (Laurel Clark) had been a Runrig fan from her time working in Scotland, and took 2 Runrig CDs with her when she went onto the International Space Station. Tragically, the shuttle blew up just 16 minutes from landing at Cape Canaveral, killing all seven crew members. Amazingly, the 2 CDs were found back on Earth by a NASA salvage team. The song was written as a tribute to her, and I feel it makes a lovely song even more poignant ! For example, the lines “Somewhere in the dark I'll find you, Somewhere in the light, I'll meet you there. Where immortal souls collide. Somewhere out there “ takes on a new and deeper meaning when you know the background ?

Thank you for unfolding the background of this song, I would never penetrate into the story behind this beautiful song. But I think not that there is a cycle of souls. If soul was immortal, we wouldn't accept the death so painfully... Therefore I think all perished are neither anguished, nor in bliss. They are just the part of silent ground.

Beautiful. Bruce almost broke towards the end there. Cannot help but think he knew at this point, and he was singing for his lady.

I love Julie Fowlis And Runrig. I Seen Them Live Yesterday Below Stirling Castle and they sounds amazing, and i mean AMAZING. Their voices are just so magical and beautiful. I seen Julie Fowlis twice in the space of 1 week, and her voice is so powerful, especially when shes singing in gaelic fast, shes amazing, shes the Queen Of Gaelic. I dont see why all the negative comments ??? Their amazing and spot on, this is a beautiful song.

Dìreach àlainn. The combination of Bruce and Rory singing with Julie Fowlis is just lovely. A very different take on the original song, but equally beautiful.

I like both versions. I've been a Runrig fan since August 1993 (thank you to a former colleague of mine who introduced me to their music). It's a shame they won't be recording anymore new stuff.

Probably there wasn't enough space on that small stage. But earlier that morning they did an interview with him and Bruce. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aX2p17J8h5TJpKg.html

Can't see if Rory's bass (which looks like a Sandberg) is plugged into anything. And it is a tiny stage. But still a beautiful song.

WTF cares? I have seen bands play in tinier spaces Totally live. We had Dire Straits, U2, the Stranglers, the Sex pistols.... I assume they played Live on a tiny stage? Your point is?

I find them hard to compare. Roy's version is more rooted in loss, this is more filled with hope. I like both versions, for different moods.
