Runrig (featuring Julie Fowlis) - Somewhere

Музыка

Being the final track on the band’s final studio album The Story 2016, the song naturally took on the mantle of ’swansong’. This version is a re-recording with Bruce Guthro on vocals, duetting with Gaelic singer, Julie Fowlis. It was used as the promo single to accompany The Final Mile and Last Dance series of Farewell Concerts, June - August 2018. Whereas the original version from The Story had an atmospheric production that alluded to the ill-fated Columbia Space Mission of 2003 and the death of astronaut Laurel Clark, (Laurel had used the Runrig song Running To The Light as her daily wake-up call from Mission Control in Houston and her Runrig CD was subsequently found virtually intact amongst the wreckage in a field in Texas) this version is closer to the way the song was originally conceived: as a song of love eternal. The Story album reached No.26 in the UK charts, No.6 in Germany and No.2 in Denmark.
The song first appeared on Runrig’s new compilation album, The Ones That Got Away released in June 2018 and available from:
The official Runrig store: www.runrigshop.co.uk (available in Hardback Book format containing full lyrics and song notes)
Also available in Amazon: www.amazon.co.uk/ONES-THAT-GO...

Laurel worked at the US Navy base at Holy Loch in Scotland. I used to holiday there in my caravan. Hy loch is also famous in the book/film "the cruel sea" I highly recomend watchin it. It's a book by Nicholas Monserrat and even in those days mental health was being highlighted.. not a new thing. Enjoy.

I took a while getting around to watching this video because I've had particularly shakey emotions of late (to put it vaguely) and this song always hits me like no other- quite frankly, I didn't feel like having my heart utterly slain on the floor. But today, still no better personally, I said "hang it, I love Runrig. I love that song. I'm going to see that new video" My oh my... Just as emotional as ever, but for some reason this new mix is just what I needed to bring that refreshing spark... Somewhere in the light, I'll meet you there.

Thank you Runrig for all the precious memories you have left for us. What an absolute proud, fantastic, magical, heart breaking farewell last night. Can't believe it is the end of the road. You simply were the best thing to ever come out of Scotland! xx
