Love that motto, I'll have to remember that one! Thanks mate, yep the BGR has a reputation for a reason!
Excellent guys, very emotional at the end. I'm very jealous. It will be mine one day.

How excellent. Well done. Best video I have seen on actually doing the round. Brought back lots of the emotions. It felt so real again, even after 12 years. #1707

Cheers, glad it brought back some memories (both highs and lows no doubt). It's one hell of a run, not something you or I will forget in a hurry. A fair few more completions since yours 12 years ago... Congrats!
LOVE THIS CHAPS - beautiful film too Matt - Love the Kiwi Squad xx

Seriously amazing 😍😍😍. What you guys achieved is inspirational. The Bob Graham round is a crazy crazy run. Just climbing h one of those peaks in a day is enough And you climbed 42!! FOURTY TWO When you get older you’ll realise how flippin amazing that really is Matt Congrats to you both - the third fastest Kiwis to do it. That is awesome Great filming and just an amazing watch 🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉👏👏👏

Wow thanks so much! Yeah it is a pretty crazy route, it's amazing to look back on the memories of that day. I won't be forgetting it anytime soon. Thanks again, and take care.
That’s so brilliant boys. Amazing what you can achieve if the Will is there. Great support!!! I fell in love with idea of the BGR in my fifties, having read ‘Feet in the Clouds’ by Richard Askwith. Alas it was all a bit late in the day for me. I did however have several fell races between my 50-55 years. Two new hips and a stem cell transplant for blood cancer, I’m learning to run again at 65….

Wow, what a life of running you've had! Yeah Feet in the Clouds is such a great book, it was our gateway too and gave us so much appreciation for the history and traditions of running in the Lakes. Glad you liked the film, and I hope re-learning how to run is going well.
Well done boys. Awesome.
Awesome stuff guys, great running and cracking style. Well done to all and total team effort. Really enjoyed watching the film, you captured the essence of it all.

Thanks Daan, glad you liked it! I hope you do get a chance to try it, it's an amazing route. Greetings from the UK!
This is fantastic stuff Matt! I ran (and filmed) my recce of legs 2 and 5 last week, while I was over in the UK for a holiday to see the family. I'm debating when I'm going to get back over to the UK to have a crack at the round itself, but I'm seriously considering next summer but that may require some fast talking with the missus and the kids. I'll be putting the vids up in the next couple of weeks.

It really is an incredible route, hit me up if/when you manage to squeeze it into your calendar. Hope you're enjoying a bit more warmth and daylight back down in Aotearoa (as we quickly run out of it up here, haha).

Bloody epic. What was your training like leading up to this? Weekly mileage and elevation? Amazing achievement, especially when you’ve only been to the area once. Wow!

Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed the journey! My training was variable but generally a good few months of ~100 km weeks and 2000-3000 metres of vert. Lots of long runs in the hills, fastpacking weekends etc as I was focused on my Scottish National Trail trip only a few weeks later. There's a bit more detail in my blog for that trip if you're interested, link below. I think the boys down in London struggled a bit more with finding enough hills! stubbornlyoptimisticmatt.wordpress.com/2020/12/28/scottish-national-trail-trip-report-2/
