Awesome fun run and discussion. I sure like letting some trains run while I switch some out in some industries. Switching locos out is fun for me also! I could spend so.e time watching yours running way more 😬👏

i'll have to do some more railfan videos. they just take so much time to assemble the trains, run them, and then get them back. i try not to handle cars and locos so i basically build them by running them. takes a minute LOL! that's why a lot of time you see the same trains in my updates - i even like to run trains when i'm working on scenery to let them roll around. it's fun just to look up from the project and see them going.

I understand about the building trains LOL. Although my layout is not near as large as yours. I also run my trains to move cars and build trains. I run something everything I walk in the room 😊. I just enjoy your vids, trains, commentary, and thought process on trains in general.👌👍💪

Those autoracks are epic. The MOW train was a nice assembly from MicroTrains and some 3D printed parts. Definitely on my list of favorites.

While I'm not in the group so I didn't answer to the poll, I'd like to add to the detailing/weathering poll. I will detail an engine if parts are readily available and cheap, but most models I get are sufficiently detailed to be happy with them, especially my Rapido engines. On the other hand, I do not weather. I understand it's more realistic, but I love the bright colors and clean look, so I prefer to keep them brand new looking. In my "tiny world" (which is a freelanced layout), companies take good care of their rolling stock, which includes keeping them clean. I also keep my scenery clean mostly. Again, I know it's unrealistic, but I prefer the looks. I can appreciate someone's work at weathering, but I won't do it. I will also go out of my way to not purchase weathered equipment, and I removed some graffiti from a car I bought used (it didn't have a graffiti in the picture online)

to each their own, so there's not a wrong way to do things - it's really whatever you want. it is interesting that you're doing 180 degree opposite what most of the modeling community is doing.

I do prefer to switch my layout, I just enjoy moving freight from A to B. We use a switch list on a clip board, one friend does use card cards, but I don't like to clutter the fascia with mounted boxes. About shiny locos, I like you spend a lot of time with scenery, mine have to be weathered. Although not to the point of a rust bucket, dirty and well used look. Train shows I get the cheap cars that no one wanted and practice on them. One quick method is Tamiya Flat Base take a paint brush and paint the whole loco when dry I use a tooth brush and remove it. You then are left with a cheap way to apply dull coat to and engine. Thanks for your incite !

I did the same thing. I keep a couple cars around to try some stuff out and see what works and what doesn't. I like the rust buckets when it suits their age. wouldn't do that to a GEVO, but an old Alco - sure. i have a lot of shiny locos and cars that need attention - it is one of the last things i get to.

Trains are pretty loud, so it's authentic! i did notice that in the final run - which is weird since the video audio is set at 50% and the voice track is set at 150%.
