Life is short, running makes it feel longer.

High carb meals in the evening will give you intense hunger pangs in the morning and you'll probably wake up more in the night. A protein shake and a table spoon of peanut butter is great if you have to have something before bed but you should stop eating around 4 hours before bed.

An XC race is usually around 90 minutes, why would you need 1-4g/kg of carbs before the race?! Sure if you raced the previous day, but why would you do that! Fuel should be there from the previous days food, have a small breakfast with some protein if the race is in the afternoon, other than that you're good to go. Trust your glycogen stores, they're there!

I for one am SO excited to see that slider be available. Looking back this winter if I had that I would’ve dialed it way back because of life stress and a lack of sleep but now that my daughter is finally sleeping through the night I’d love to see what it would recommend for volume by pushing it up to the right.

Always figured the runner's high was a myth because I feel like I'm in hell when I'm running

I’m laughing while Johnathan is talking about waking up at night once and how horrible that is. Just wait until you are in your 50s and wake up 3-4 times a night to pee. It sucks. Definitely sucks, but oh so common.

Take a look at Hubermans breathing episode. I use his techniques intra interval to see how fast and low I can get my HR. Keep up the great work

For outside workouts how or are things like temp, wind taken into account? Aka would a ride into a 20mph headwind have the same impact if the ride was in a 20mph tailwind? Or if it's 100 degrees vs 70? or even 90% humidity vs 30%?

Great question/s. I have always felt (as a Tr subscriber & indoor training junkie) that one crucial piece of the overall puzzle is missing with Tr, HR.. My garmin instinct watch isn't able to be paired to my Wahoo bike and when adding the Tr don't worry at all about subscribers hr that together I feel the training g fatigue is at best a guess. Wish more focus on training and overall training fatigue included hiw your heart was going. Big ride into head wind whilst not feeling healthy, hr off the charts, but no weight given to that in assessment. Si, Christchurch, NZ.

Regarding your 500th podcast. I'd like to see something a bit different. How about a Trainerroad staff versus athlete, such as Hannah et al, criterium race with a deep dive after. Obviously the race would need to be broadcast.

Nate - you need the theme from "Halloween" (the creepy piano bit), and the voice of the guy from "Silence of the Lambs" saying "First It puts the lotion in the basket". Nobody's gonna stick around for that : )
