So I did some bad math. I noticed the main sound frequency the engine is throwing out is about 698 Hz, or theoretically 698 exhaust pulses per second. Multiply that by 60 for pulses per minute, divide that by 6 for 6 cylinders, and you'll get about 6980 exhaust pulses per minute. And since it's a 2 stroke, that means it's 6980 RPM, and because each cylinder has a power stroke each revolution (vs every other like a 4 stroke), it sounds like a 4 stroke running at 13960 RPM. I don't think I've ever wanted diesel nascar more than right now tbh. I could be completely wrong, who knows. It feels right though.

we had a 1977 Detroit Deisel and it survived 2 runaways at 6000 rpm. it finally died last year. we pulled it apart and it had thrown a rod. I seen a lot of young guys break into driving on these piles. I seen where those engines did a days work... running air compressors on drill rigs. I worked for a guy who had gambling fever, so he would drill a pit for someone, take that money and bet the horses. He would catch two or more hundred dollar place but never the big payouts. I didn't have anything better to do... he is saying if it will just bore a few more holes, I will get back on top again... I made it run and had old engine oil from other rigs changes... just kept it in oil.... I will be dipped in owl poop, that sorry engine kinda tightened up and started running good for what ever reason. I tried hard to get him to sell it while there was a dollar to be made but nope an I told him that that last engine was the last save, no more. It ran great for a few weeks... we had walked down from the pit to eat in the shade, he had left it running. I was just taking a bite of cold food (tastes better than nothing) and seen some white smoke a curling in the air... he was going to run up and try to shut it down but I just hung onto him... and just when I was about to second guess myself, that motor made the god awfullest sound and ran against the governor not more than a couple minutes and then "Bang".... no more tuning on that crap hole that left you black walking by it.

Say what you want, The engine and the truck as a hole for over 30yrs of service did a dam good job to make this far. I will be lucky if my 2022 Honda with a CVT lasts for 80 thousand miles. So many people are suffering because of the new emission (DEF) problems. Great video! Thanks

Man! An old M&G Convoy truck. Hauling new cars to the dealership. My dad drove one of these trucks for years. I fondly remember riding in these trucks as a kid. I can remember going to the yard where there were about 30-50 of these things parked.
