The mercury is soaring everywhere but Aatish Mishra wants to get away! And the mountains are a cool idea, quite literally. His SUV for this one is the capable Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara ALLGRIP. His journey begins at Manali and continues to the recently-built Atal Tunnel that makes it getting to Lahaul a breeze. But the journey then on to Shinku La is arduous. Thankfully, we have the rally champion, Suresh Rana behind the wheel to harness the full potential of the Grand Vitara’s AWD system. Watch the video and soak in some serene vistas.

I wish Maruti provided a more powerful engine option with this Allgrip variant. Still, among the competition, this is the only true SUV with AWD and not just a jacked up hatchback.
Right from my trip to Leh last week seeing and enjoying the Vitara happily roaring in Himalayas...Kudos to the Evo team.Keep Rocking

I wish there were more videos on Suzuki AllGrip Select from India like those Polish videos showcasing just how often the rear axle is engaged on regular drives on tarmac, detecting slippage or traction loss much more often than we imagined.
Such a lovely video @evoIndia. Booked my grand vitara zeta a week ago. Roaring to maneuver this vehicle in mountains of Himalaya.

I am not challenging your driving credientials but from where i see this.. you werent actually driving in snow.. the road was slippery but was clear. We would like to see how this car performs while wading thru snow.❤

I have the grand vitara mild hybrid not with all grip I have done 4 road trips since it came and I would say that it does not have that punch and feel of power but in high speeds it is fun

Did you switch off the engine when you reached the pass? Or, Did you let the engine running to keep it hot?
I have done the the whole Ladakh circuit in my Ecosport 1.5L diesel. Never had an issue. 2 wheel drive and crossed everything like cake walk.
Aaa.. 29 and 28 degrees in India summer is not properly upon us.. And grand vitara makes 104bhp not 101.

That's about 104PS/hp, which equates to about 101bhp.

Never knew before India had snowy area
I hope Suzuki India can integrate AllGrip with either 6 speed Automatic and eCVT (especially considering Hungarian-built Vitara has AllGrip with 6 speed auto). I hope that Suzuki and Toyota can develop an engineering solution for it

maybe this was the most pleasant season to go to shinkula top bcoz the paths were very clear and less difficult.

Going down Shinku La onto Zanskar is the real challenge. Shinku La is one of the few untamed and dangerous mountain passes in our country.

Would the GV mild hybrid be a good car for the hills with a full 5 passenger load with luggage? There are a lot of comments online on it being very underpowered

Nice informative video but can you provide details of the version. Also at one point you mentioned 13.2 kmpl but you were driving alone what will be the kmpl after sitting full. But good video.

@@evoIndia we were in Camper though 🙃 as 2 wheelers were not allowed during that period. our bikes were loaded on Campers and we were enjoying the road from inside.
Don’t miss gone Russian look alike Chapka or winter cap 😮😮😮😊😊😊…first time I have someone wear it inside a car…well done 😂😂😂

Diesels will be soon completely phased out. It might not be feasible to invest in an engine/platform that will be used for barely a few years.
