RUN FASTER 4 Proven Acceleration Drills

Спорт

Are you ready to take your sprinting and acceleration to the next level ? In this lesson, Olympic Coach Ken Harnden shares four of his favorite acceleration drills that will help you sprint faster, improve your posture, and make better ground contact.
Acceleration is all about hitting the proper angles and applying maximum force to the ground. The first drill in the series helps you feel the difference between running on the balls of your foot versus your toes. This is an important first step to proper acceleration, as the angle of your chin will dictate your ground contact.
Next up is the U drill, which is fantastic at forcing you to use proper front side mechanics and getting your hips into a good position. This drill is especially useful for football and basketball athletes who spend a lot of time with their hips in a defensive position.
Coach Harnden also breaks down skip in and rolling 2 point starts, explaining why they are crucial elements to any speed training program. By mastering these drills, you'll be well on your way to becoming a faster and more efficient sprinter. So don't wait - start incorporating these highly effective acceleration drills into your training today!

    Totally see the skip before the acceleration coming into play. Personally I feel better when I do it and Bolt would do it every stride he did during his warmup

    You got it, the first steps are about hitting the correct angles (similar to say pushing a car). This way you can get good triple extension.

    Would it be beneficial to do the U-Drill while pulling a sled? Or would it just screw up what you're looking to accomplish?

  • @OutperformOfficial

    @OutperformOfficial

    Really interesting idea. I think if you go lighter with the sled and really focus on keeping the hips engaged it could definitely be beneficial as long as the form is there.

    Hey guy - do you have a training program for beginners?

  • @OutperformOfficial

    @OutperformOfficial

    2 жыл бұрын

    Right now we don't have anything that is specifically designed for beginners. However we just finished filming an athletic speed course that is more for beginners which should be released in the next month or so. That being said, both of our sprinting master classes start with fundamental concepts and the training plans can be tailored for less advanced athletes.

    Not necessarily many pro track athletes run with their hands closed the idea of keeping your hands open was to help with staying relaxed while running you don’t have to run with your hands open if you know how to stay relaxed
