This is so beautiful, this intimate scene just brings their connection for each other to another level. I guess we’ll never know why they decided to cut it. My guess is that maybe there was just too much information all in one scene, and they wanted to make sure they didn’t spoil everything midway into the movie. I have to say, I am happy they decided to post this cut scene. Just a little piece of chocolate of heaven. For that, thank you!

That’s why there should be a prequel, it makes sense to delete the scenes they deleted because it leaves the audience giving a bit of sympathy for Diana which we shouldn’t do. I’d like to see a movie based on her childhood

Wow, this actually makes the movie better imo. The whole “the trigloxin pill is --(red)” scene , while good, felt not as impactful. But with Diane giving Chloe the information and THEN us finding out she is lying...it brings a heavier weight to the scene as a whole.

It also gives a larger amount of insight into Diane and how she’s been emotionally manipulating and preying on Chloe’s sympathy to keep her in her grasp.

i feel like with this scene she wouldn't have really questioned her actions anymore though cause it seemed really genuine plus her putting her own label on top still didn't make sense really
This was definitely one of her rehearsed speeches
Right after Chloe answered "I don't know, there wasn't any internet", Diane took a long hard pause, her eyes pounced at Chloe as she herself was pondering that she just got caught lying to her mother (so her eyes were still down). Then the eye lock scene, as if Diane not only had control over her eyes but she wanted access to her child's soul to lock down and control. That long pause was there for a very good reason. Chloe dropping her eyes and (an attempt on her part) to break apart from her mother's needed retrieval, all of a sudden you hear this screeching sound of the chair as an attempt to make her look at her again,----and into the basement Diane goes to plan some form of control, that basement purposely, inaccessible. Diane alone has complete control over what happens and what stays in the basement. The handshake was really interesting. A signal to find out if Chloe has "figured it out" yet. Notice how the position of Diane's hug kind of hover's over Chloe (almost forcing her to lean her back uncomfortably), it's as if she has her in a headlock, but still has a gentle and soft hand holding her head from the back. She also just controls all of her head and neck movements, the part of someone's more vulnerable body parts. These body movements basically say everything about Diane's control over her. And slowly Chloe is aware that it's better to play it off with her than to question her, let alone resist. Incredible work. Amazing work for Kierra Allen. Her natural understanding about eye contact, gestures, and this deep emotion of love, mixed with confusion and betrayal, and having her character feel this sinking feeling of "who is mom" is extraordinary and is very difficult to pull off in acting. Did you see how her character was fighting internally, after mom released her from the hug and she turned around, Chloe's whole body just sank saying to you as the watcher, "oh my god, where am I and who am I with?" You can also tell that these kind of emotional encounters, really wiped both of them out. For Diane, maybe she felt drained from having to act out the explanation for Chloe, but felt relieved that she won her hand. For Chloe this really wiped her out, perhaps more than the usual hug encounter, we may get this hint that mom has given her this kind of affection before, this almost over the top and hands start feeling like sandpaper feeling because it's just so much. But with this kind of hug and explanation by mom,--- something is different this time, and she's slowly realizing she's in some really deep trouble. Her instincts are churning slowing, decoding for her that things are not what they seem and to....RUN. Only a little more time can help decipher this code of danger, but in this scene, Diane won this round. Thanks so much for this cut-scene clip. I really wanted to attempt to capture what I was feeling as a viewer in words. Cheers and thanks.

What a shame, they deleted the best part of the movie.
Sarah Paulson plays an excellent psycho villainess in "Run". She played Diane Sherman with pure perfection. Despite all her issues, Diane is a great character. Kiera Allen was also great in the movie. I think they were the perfect stars for the movie!
Glad this was cut, I preferd her seeing the stuck on label and ringing that guy to google it and find out the colour of the pill was different.
He says "This is my favorite scene" with all the deleted scenes...

Because they put so much input into making the characters not two dimensional, then what ends up in the movie are characters that are two dimensionals.
When Diane stood up and walked down the stairs I was like, “Oh _God, what’s_ she gonna get? A wooden spoon, Handcuffs, _chloroform?!”_
I think this scene would have left the audience feeling unsure as to which character was crazy, which I do like.. But I think the very end, where she was looking at the missing page in the book might not have been obvious enough for the majority of the viewers to understand why she went from the rational explanation that her mother just gave her, to right back into paranoid hysteria...
This scene explains so much I wish they would have left it! The handshake creates a powerful callback to the basement handshake. And Chloe asking in the basement “could I walk?” While looking at pictures of herself COMPLETELY adds up now with Diane giving the paralyzed from birth exposition here. I wondered how Chloe never knew how/when she became paralyzed. This scene answers that so thanks
I wish they added this because now the handshake in the basement makes more sense now
I watched this movie yesterday! I am so glad I did. This is such a good movie and both gave a good performance. Wish they had kept this scene in. Would have made a huge difference.

@@user10204 "Gaslight" is a term coined for a specific kind of manipulation in which one party makes the other party doubt their own thoughts. A lot of the more blatant cases have statements like "that's not true, you just made that all up" or "that didn't happen, you must have gone crazy". In this case it's a bit more subtle, where Diane takes Chloe's known perception of the situation and gently twists it to make Chloe feel bad for "jumping to conclusions".

I really really hope Kiera would be in more films or series
This should have been left in! It gives so much more context to the story, with the handshake, the question of if she was always paralyzed, wondering where the other parent was etc
Great movie.
Did they actually delete the best scene that could've been in this movie? min 2:30 They could've made this movie a lot better like shutter island, they could've done it on a way so the movie plays both sides, adding some clue that the girl was paranoid and the mother actually saved her from parents that they were trying to get ride of their new born instead of the current simple clear plot.
mann .... Why tf would you delete that scene ... this single deleted scene could have made the movie more gripping,(i dont mean that it wasnt already but yeah the inclusion of this scene would have made it much better).
This scene is sm better than what is in the movie
So, nobody has seen the "Gaslight" addressed on the letter at 4:22?. She's emotionally manipulating her which is known as gaslighting in the psychology community.

easter egg to the film / play called Gaslight! A classic that this is surely inspired from
I love you Diane
I have no recollection of myself having missed watching any award given for cinematographic performance, but this is the scene that should warrant Sarah Paulson for an Oscar. 🏆
*There is something about this movie that isn't explained.* The daughter never asked why she was given her mother's pills. In other words, the mother never explained to the daughter why she was given her "heart medication." The daughter didn't need any heart medication. Was this explanation left out to example her mother's manipulation? If so that's cool because I don't see anyone but myself asking this question. So the mother manipulated the viewers to never ask why and forget. I feel smart. Because I wasn't manipulated. :)

This is a good question, it's one of those questions you have to reference back throughout the movie. Did Diane say that Chloe had a "supposed" heart condition? Second, even if there was an issue with the insurance, I'm pretty sure you cannot under any circumstances use your insurance to cover your child that is under Dianes' name....if that makes sense. In other words, Chloe should have be prescribed meds using her own name, under Diane's insurance. But that is why Diane is very ill in this movie, she plays with the pill bottles like the pills are just Tic-Tacs.

I can see why it was cut out… it’s a stretch, there would never be a book of human and veterinary medications and to make the connection between the veterinary drugs and the missing pages is too difficult for the audience. Had to watch it twice.
Honestly, I'm glad this flawed scene was discarded. It would've most definitely ruined my experience.
