Another of his free harmonica lessons, Luke "Playa T." Clebsch teaches how to play John Popper's intro solo in Blues Traveler's hit song "Run-Around," so that you can do your own Run Around Cover. And this time I'm actually in the correct position! 2nd position on a C harmonica, which turns out to be much easier than playing it 1st position on a G harp!! This is on of the best harmonica songs, imho!
Here are the harmonica tabs in C:
slide up to 8- 7+ 7- 7+ 7- 6- 6+ 6- 6- 7- 6- 6+ 5+ 4- 3- 2- 4+ 4-
5+ 6+ 6- 7- 7+7- 7+7- 8- 7- 6- 6+ 8+(grace note bend)
(7+ 6+ ghost notes) 8- 7+ 7- 8- 7+ 6- 7+ 7+ 7- 6- 6+ 5+
4- 4-(slight bend down) 3- 2- 4+ 3-
Sorry I got so flustered at the end. But I'm pretty sure I got the harmonica tabs right so follow the tabs!
And that's the intro riff of John Popper's harmonica solo on Run-Around by Blues Traveler. Hopefully that's helpful!

That's awesome! Thank you. As you were getting a bit flustered, I was thinking, "That can't possibly be easy to teach and slow down and remember where you're at.". So no need for sorrow. You did fantastic and I'll be learning this and more from you. Thank you.

KidPokerX24 Sik! Glad it helped. Sorry I got so flustered at the end. Yeah, Seydel's are not my favorite to be honest. I seem to prefer the sound of brass reeds to stainless feel. At the NAMM show, I was very impressed with the Suzuki's. I've got a chromatic coming from them Monday....

It is a bit disappointing that John Popper never plays the album version of the Hook solo (I know this isn't the video for it) when playing live. He just plays a large amount of random up-and-down runs that, while they sound amazing, aren't anywhere near similar to the original. There's a youtube interview where he played it roughly for someone and commented that he had "forgotten the chord progression" and I was a bit puzzled. Someone of his musical aptitude could pick up a chord progression like that and re-learn it in no time, so I'm always curious why he never plays it like the album version. I've noticed that he does something similar with other songs, but Run Around and others seem much more similar to the album when played live than when he does the Hook solo.
