A demonstration of building up letters with a ruling pen and gouache.
The paper I used is very cheap and not suitable for a final work. Laying down lots of ink caused the fibers of the paper to deteriorate and break apart.
The great thing about the ruling pen is that you can lay down lines without applying pressure like a pointed pen or even a Brause nib.
I recommend making light pencil lines first to establish the structure the letters. In my case, it would have been best to create guidelines, or make all the letters bounce. The G is an unfortunate outcome of writing freehand. It could be easily corrected with photoshop.
