I’m soool glad to know that there are a lot of other people like me who is starting late in sports specifically basketball. these rules were not written in a single day, the first version of basketball was drastically different than what the game is today, the game has evolved throughout the years, to address issues with the game and make it viable for competitive play, for example the 24 sec rule was invented to encourage fast offense and prevent the players from passing the ball around forever, the backcourt violation was made to force all the players too one side so someone doesn't stay in the back to prevent attacks and so on.

This is great because I'm about to record a college level basketball team with the basic rules now in my head. I never really cared for sports outside of swim and volleyball, so it's nice to learn a new sport in depth.

I got my first trial this Sunday and I need to learn the rules😂

Basketball is a game that has 12 players and can only allow 5 on the court at a time. It has four quarters that are 12 minutes. Each person on the court has a roll. The rolls are.. Point guard: to get the ball into the opposing teams court and run offense Shoot guard: be able to shoot long distance (mainly 3’s) and sometimes when needed to go to the other teams side. Small forward: person who can shoot long distance and stay inside the circle Power forward:mainly shooting inside the circle and sometimes makes 3’s Center: tallest player to catch rebounds and layout the ball Fancy terms: Rebound: being able to catch a fallen ball after a missed shot Layout: a shot close to the basket or in the circle Quarters: sections or chapters in a game Free throws: being able to make a shot without players defending their basket -free throws When the opposing team makes a certain amount of fouls the other team gets a free throw The object of the game is to get the most points in the 48 minutes
