When female passengers fell asleep in the back of my cab , I used to either flag down a passing police car and get them to wake her or I’d look for a bus stop with people waiting and simply ask a woman to wake her for me. It often caused some surprise , but they quickly understood that I couldn’t get in the back with a sleeping woman. I used the past tense because I retired to the country five years ago - just in fkn time ! Food and drink - “ If you want to eat , go to a cafe. This isn’t one” No exceptions. Brilliant videos, Tom, very nostalgic.

I used to work nights and had all sorts of problems but luckily only two people threw up in all that time. The first was sat next to me and it was mostly all over himself, and the second just as we arrived at his house. Unluckily for him I had to fine him. I did have a guy in the back wet himself, kept it quiet and my next customer sat in it. That was a bit of a stressy moment, but he was really quite good about it. I've had lots of near-misses, people throwing up the second they leave the vehicle, and a couple down the outside of the doors. The last time, the passengers father helped me wash the cab. Top geezer.

Talking about "Friends" loading someone in to a cab. When i drove Taxi's in Perth (Western Australia), I was on a rank outside a Nightclub, chilling away watching people come and go (You always scan the people coming out for the drunks), and up the line, there were a group of people going to every cab. Their angle, Load an unconscious woman in to a cab, give him money, "Take her home". One person per limb, carrying her down the line of cabs, Nope, nope, nope, I wave her off as a Nope, watching in my mirrors, nope, nope, Nope. Guaranteed Chunder job. Another one I can remember, Tooting down the freeway at 100 kph, a couple in the back, She appears over the console, and says "Don't you wish you were me ?", I look in the rear vision, and there is her BF, Partner whatever, giving her a double Digit.. (Think about it). "Nah he isn't my type !".

I kid you not the dog used to stand up the moment you came into sight of the stop they wanted. No idea how it knew but it did it Every. Single. Time.

I find it kinda uncomfortable to ride in a taxi with this kind of silence, because I talk to the driver only the absolute bare minimum. And with an electric vehicle its even quieter. You have the no eating policy and then there is this taxi driver who encouraged us to eat during the ride... I misunderstood a time statement (half nine means 9:30 in UK whereas half nine (halb neun) means 8:30 in Germany) so I was afraid that we wouldnt be able to check in into the hotel. since it was like 8 oclock I thought we had plenty time. But after a phonecall where the hotel said they will be gone at half nine I organised a taxi. I thought we would eat something at the restaurant. So we had to go to a McDonalds during our taxi ride. We got our meals and were sitting in the cab. The driver said very often that we should eat. :) xD. The best part was that he didnt charge us more for the stop at mcdonalds.

I’ve just started taxi driving - day 15 today. Got an old TX2 for now, working in Lancashire. Been sworn at and racially abused already. Stones thrown at my cab by group of lads. £40 fare runner. Had someone throw up in the back too 🥴🙄☹️ Cab has broken down twice and the trade is very quiet at the moment. Don’t know what I’ve got myself into at the moment ☹️
