@@SailingYachtSaltyLass they are at the bottom. Up about 3m there was an opening and once you climb up there’s an stone stairs on inside you can go up to roof on…

is 3.6 the range? If 4m is high water?

Yes - 3.6 was the range. In doing the calculations the range is what determines the size of a 1/12th and then you can add or deduct from HW or LW depending on what you are calculating

As long as you know the range you can work it with either HW or LW depending on your needs. The trick is to know how quickly the tide changes each hour

@@SailingYachtSaltyLass and if geographic area totally messes up the flow eg Wexford harbour caused extra 3 hrs flow at Roslare ( not mentioned in pilot guide only by RNLI) the 1st time we were there trying to sail to safety because engine overheated due to kink in fuel line only evident when moving through swell.

@@WavedancerWesterlyfulmar - The rule of twelfths only applies to regular tidal flow areas, so in "oddball areas" like the Solent, Menai or Wexford you cannot use it and need to use the curves in Reeds Almanac
