Ruined but will it run?? - Honda CBR125R

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

#HONDA #CBR125R
While I took a winter break from my current restoration projects I thought it was a good time to prepare for my own motorcycle licence. For that I need a 125cc road legal bike to practice on before I can attempt the licence test with any confidence.
I found a weather beaten ‘quick fix’ Honda CBR125r 2007 model for very cheap as it was not running. I had to ‘look through’ the green mould and grim from sitting outside in the English rain for 2 years!
Enjoy as I scratch my head along the way to getting it running again!

Great job. I rebuilt a cbf125 including a new top end. These bikes are so easy and cheap to work on. And as you say , hold their price beautifully. The money I got was used to get my full A license.

Another great video! I especially enjoy how you document and share your struggles, and your mistakes. It's so much more realistic and enjoyable for those of us who do our own work and experience them ourselves. Sometimes it really is an emotional rollercoaster!

Stardrops @10:1 with warm water will clean the paint. A light compound, Autofiness Tripple...plenty of other options. Autoglum SRP may brighten the paint, nice little bikes. Granados ?

Really helpful video and what looked like a piece of crap, has turned out pretty a good bike and when you have finished using it for your test, will be a good bike for someone else. I think I would have been scratching my head that it wouldn't start, so something I have learnt on the the fuel pressure regulator.

Very helpful. I own a 2016 CB125F which looks like it shares the same fuel pump as your bike. I had to replace the pump last year after instances of fuel starvation at high RPM. Little Hondas do seem to have flakey fuel pumps, hence they're hard to find at a reasonable cost. I bought another spare from James Sherlock Motorcycles (BMW breaker), but prices have shot right up; probably the realisation that there's gold in them used pumps 🙄

@@MyRestoration1 But we've all learned sumfink and you've got a cracking wee bike to learn on*. You're definitely quids-in; as you said, 125s are in high demand and command strong money. *the fact you can ride and change gear, one-handed, whilst filming, indicates you'll have no issues with the CBT 😊

Great video Rob! Seeing a repair like this is very practical and relatable. Also, I felt joy when she started up and ran, so I'm sure that was a good moment for you! Not long before you have your full license and we see you in the glistening sun on your Ducatti! You have inspired me to go on Auto trader and see what bike I'm "NOT" going to buy 😂

Hi that sound electrical to me. So so often the issue is with the black ground wire which connects to the chassis. If you don’t know what ground is, it is the pathway for the current to run from the positive - through all the chips and lights etc and then back around through the ground connector. If this ground is now not fully in contact with the frame the circle is cut off from flowing. This is 80% of most motorcycle electrical issues. So all fine and well Rob but what is the problem on my bike? Well luckily enough Honda uses a code in the flashing light to tell you. Count how many times it flashes and google it. This will lead you to the issue. Always keep in mind that in most of these cases the loop has been stopped by a bad ground. Find that and most likely you will find your problem. Good luck!
