Members of VOCES8 are joined by the VOCES8 Scholars, Apollo5, and the Academy of Ancient Music for a performance of ‘Ruht wohl, ihr heiligen Gebeine' from Johannes-Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach. The performance was conducted by VOCES8's Artistic Director, Barnaby Smith and was recorded live at the VOCES8 International Music Festival at Milton Abbey on 31st July 2019.

Translation:
Rest in peace, you sacred limbs,
I shall weep for you no more,
rest in peace, and bring me also to rest.
The grave that is allotted to you
and contains no further suffering,

I was there!! The hole St John Passion was absolutely wonderful. I had such a great week as a participant at the Voces8 summer school at Milton Abbey. Wonderful music, great people and beautiful surroundings.

We listened it at my father's funeral august 2020. It's heartbreaking beautiful.
I LOVE BACH and the VOCES8 group...and the Scholars and more...and I so miss singing good choral music as my own voice is pretty much gone now (I'm an Octogenarian who was born singing harmony) and I miss singing with a great choral group...sighs...

Non solo è un brano magnifico ma è anche.......... terribile . Bach immagina che la Madonna riceve Gesù sulle ginocchia ( vedi Pietà di Michelangelo) ma va come in trance pensando che sia ancora un bambino. In quel punto la commozione è tale che coristi, musicisti e direttore corrano il rischio di bloccarsi per piangere. Anche io piango sempre! - Sac. Nicolini Romano - Rimini
