Don`t know how many of these guns Ruger made. Probably not many compared to the 357s. Ruger has been doing stuff like this for the last few years. Doing limited runs of their regular best sellers in different calibers. They made the GP100 as a 7 shot 327 Federal and a 5 shot 44 Special. Blackhawks in 10mm/40 S&W, 44 Special, and 327 Fed. They even made a convertible Vaquero in 40 S&W/38-40.

Tyler Gun Works accuracy and action job on my GP100 22 LR 10 round revolver is awesome. Fixed trigger over travel stop and carry melt treated the revolver. Beveled the front of the cylinder too. Tyler Gun Works does hand engraving and did tasteful engraving on mine. Hogue recoil absorbing grip upgrade and Bowen Classic Arms stainless steel screw base lanyard ring replaces the screw used to hold the grip on. And provides a ring for a lanyard to be attached. I use boot leather laces and braid a short lanyard on mine.

The problem with most of the old H&R revolvers was that the action was pretty delicate and they would not stand up to a lot of use. Often as not you find older ones that the timing is off so bad I`d be afraid to shoot them. I have a video of an H&R due to go live this afternoon at 3pm central that is in nice condition for its age. A 5 shot 38 S&W.

@@HertzPenske You might try asking on one of the Ruger Forums. Special runs for different distributors can be hard to get a handle on. There are so many different ones and often they were made in low numbers. Sometimes as few as 500 or even less. More often in the 1,500 to 2,500 range. Basically whatever the distributor that ordered that particular variation thought they could sell.

What is surprising is how much these guns are bringing. I saw two sell on Gunbroker yesterday for $1250 and $1178.

@@HertzPenske Supply and demand. Used to be that few people collected Rugers because they very recent manufactured guns without all that much variation. But that has changed over the years as Ruger accumulated a deeper history. Myself, I`m more interested in S&Ws and Colts, but I`ll snag a nice Ruger once in a while, especially if it is something out of the ordinary.

I don't have any double action 22lr revolvers. That show I went to had a smith model 17 and 18 but they were high priced. The stainless is a lot easier to clean

    The GP100 isn`t exactly cheap. But it`s a little less pricy than a new S&W 617. Maybe $100 cheaper.

Well, the SP101 was intended more as a trail gun. This one is more of a target gun. But if you want a real target revolver, the S&W model 617 is even better, but it is a little more expensive than the GP100.

I had one of those and it sucked big time. The trigger was to heavy and the accuracy sucked. Sold it and bought another S@W 617

My only complaint with this one is the double action trigger. It is reasonably smooth (could be better) but it`s about 3 pounds heavier than it ought to be. If you like the trigger on the 617 Smith, you should try a model 17 from about 1980 or earlier. Another step up and smooth as glass.
