When I was growing up all the cool kids had Remington nylon 66. My dad gave a single shot bolt action when I was about 8. I still have it and is the rifle I trained my kids and grandkids with. Good video. Blessings brother

A rifle that makes a lot of “best overall survival rifle” lists according to many diverse experts. The .22lr isn’t as capable as a larger caliber. But it’s still pretty fearsome from a long barrel, highly accurate in its effective range, and you can conveniently carry thousands of .22lr compared to hundreds of, say, .556. I’d love to have one.

Nice vid. I strongly recommend the ruger 22 suppressor for this. Not cheap but the window is closing on your ability to get one. That and the 25 round mags make an ideal long term survival gun.

Why is the ruger 10 22 so over priced ?

Also , I set-up #3 marlin model #60's for #3 ex lawmen , One was President Bush's secret service , personal man. The other two retired police officers , all #3 close friends. All 3 wouldn't sell it for love nor money. I used a Tasco 4-16-40 scope , leupold rings , and a $119.00 standard model 60 with micro groove barrel. And they would drive nails at 100 yards. To this day they will tell you ,it's their favorite rifle. With confidence comes love ,and trust . A light ,easy to carry , rifle , with 17 rounds . What's not to love. Peace. P.s. hiyas Mr. Funk.

Thank you for this great video. I'm the proud owner of a 1968 Canadian Centennial Ruger 10/22 Carbine. Has a fancy walnut stock with fluted finger hold in the forearm, a Canadian Centennial Coin in the butt stock and Engraving on the top of the receiver. It's been in my family as long as I can remember, since I was born in 1968. Handed down from my uncle to my dad then to me, it's a real treasure.

I gave my 1987 10/22 a make over not long ago. First gun I bought when I turned 18. She had been used hard.

My first rifle was a Winchester 190 given to me by my dad at Christmas as many have gotten their first rifle. The number of rabbits, squirrels and woodchucks (sneaking up close) and partridge that old 22lr took I can't count. Now I have a couple of 10/22's (one the wife gave me for Christmas a few years ago) and a Henry Lever. Great video as always, Mr. Funk. With all the super caliber's and tacticool nonsense being pushed now many are missing the joy of plinking at a can with a 22lr as a way to pass an afternoon and think about things.

Great video. All of my 10/22's, past and present, have needed hotter ammo to function properly. I was very impressed with all the CCI loads. Thanks for sharing.

My 10/22 is about the same age and setup as yours. Have same issues with federal and American eagle ammo not cycling even in warmer weather. Many a squirrel in the pot with Cci Mini mag round nose. Seems to be most accurate out of mine. Thanks for braving to cold and wind to bring us another great video.

I just got the special Lipsey's 22-inch 10/22 and couldn't be happier with it. It'll take care of most (but not all) things I ever might need a rifle for.

Had one in my teens, just had to get another one in my senior years. You said it, accurate and reliable, regardless of lube.
